Five Coins[1] are a larger type of coin worth five normal coins apiece, mostly found in the Mario & Luigi series. They are typically embossed with the number 5 to denote their value, although they can occasionally appear as simply large coins.

Mario & Luigi series[edit]

Five Coins are concealed within blocks in most of the Mario & Luigi series. In Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, Five Coins can occasionally be found scattered around outside blocks.

Super Princess Peach[edit]

In Super Princess Peach, large coins that are worth five regular ones appear in levels alongside other types of coins, but they are notably less common. Upon buying a Courage Soda, every enemy Princess Peach whacks with Perry gives out such a coin, with the number of coins dropped increasing by 2.5 for every two enemies when whacked in rapid succession.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem![edit]

Five Coins, referred to as large coins,[2] appear in Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Mini-Land Mayhem!, where they are worth 500 points each; this is five times as many points as regular coins, which are worth 100 points each.

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]

Five Coins are also encountered in Paper Mario: Sticker Star, where they are sometimes dropped by enemies upon defeat or at a level's completion.

Monopoly: Super Mario Celebration![edit]

Five Coins appear in Monopoly: Super Mario Celebration! as a currency. They can be used to pay for items or fees, counting as five normal coins.

Jenga: Super Mario Edition[edit]

In Jenga: Super Mario Edition, Five Coins can be used in place of regular coins to physically represent the number of coins that a player has earned; however, this choice is purely cosmetic, and has no effect on gameplay.

Princess Peach: Showtime![edit]
