The Sour Bunch is an acting theater troupe led by Grape and are the main antagonists of Princess Peach: Showtime!, where they take over the Sparkle Theater, start messing around in the various plays hosted there and turn them into tragedies. The troupe primarily consist of anthropomorphic purple grape-like creatures known as Dūkes, and their numerous variants, themed after various antagonistic roles thematic to the plays present at the Sparkle Theater.
All members of the Sour Bunch revere and remain loyal to Grape, to the point they consistently refer to her as "Madame Grape". This title of worship is exclusively used by the Sour Bunch, and is used as a common theme and clue throughout Princess Peach: Showtime! to identify characters with bad intentions (for instance, if a Theet starts referring to Grape as "Madame Grape", that usually means that either, they have been corrupted with dark powers from the Sour Bunch, or they are actually a Dūke in disguise).
The Sour Bunch also has a variety of non-Dūke members. Most of them appear to be marionet-like puppets made from wood, plastic or metal, and attached to light purple strings. This implies that these enemies are actually lifeless props, animated either through Grape's powers or at the hand of unseen Dūkes backstage. Some of these puppet-like enemies also act as the main antagonist in the plays they appear in, and have to be fought by Princess Peach and Stella in a boss fight.
The Sour Bunch also includes a sub-group of high-ranking members known as the Darkle Bosses. They appear as animal-like creatures fused with stage equipment, and imbued with Darkle Power courtesy of Grape herself. Grape employs the Darkle Bosses as Peach and Stella cleanse a floor in the Sparkle Theater completely from the Sour Bunch's influence.

Naming[edit]
Their name, alongside Grape's, plays on the phrase "sour grapes" which reference Ancient Greek theater's celebrations to honor Dionysus, the god of wine and theater.[1]
