Criminals are enemies in Princess Peach: Showtime!, and are members of the Sour Bunch. Collectively known as the Sour Gang, they are Dūke dressed black and dark gray clothing, a dark gray newsboy cap, and a purple bandana tied on their left arm. They appear as the antagonists in the Detective plays: in The Case of the Missing Mural, two Criminals plan to steal a Theepota mural from the museum; in The Case of the Rainy-Day Plot, three Criminals plot to blow up the Clock Tower with a bomb; and in The Dark Museum & the Purple Mystery, several criminals disguise themselves as Theets - including the Junior Detective - in order to mislead Detective Peach and prevent her from rescuing the Detective Sparkla. While the Criminals' behavior typically amounts to hiding or disguising themselves as others (which, in The Case of the Missing Mural, is via the Masks of Disguise taken from the museum), the first two Criminals encountered as Princess Peach behave identically to the Dūke from the beginning scenes of The Castle of Thorns, as they similarly hop slowly towards her and can be easily defeated with a Sparkle.
