History[edit]

Princess Peach: Showtime![edit]

In Princess Peach: Showtime!, Princess Peach and Stella can obtain a Sparkle Gem by completing unsaid quests or side quests, or finding it in different locations. There are ten Sparkle Gems in each transformation's first play, seven in each transformation's second play, and five in BF plays. Every time Peach collects a Sparkle Gem, the game shows the list of Sparkle Gems Peach collected in the stage. According to Stella, Sparkle Gems "are packed with shining power" which can be used to open dark doors. After defeating Grape, three Sparkle Gems can be earned by refighting each boss while fulfilling certain requirements during the battle, and they can be used to buy decorations for the Sparkle Theater lobbies.

There are a total of 235 Sparkle Gems; only 100 are required to complete the game (10 required for the Disco Wing boss fight on 1F, 15 for Light Fang on 2F, 20 for Purrjector Cat on 3F, 25 for Spotlion on 4F, and 30 for Grape on BF), while the remaining 135 are used to buy decorations for the Sparkle Theater lobbies, as mentioned above. Collecting all 235 will allow Peach to buy the Special Dress and Special Ribbon at the Lobby Shop.

A Sparkle piece[1] is a shard or fragment of a Sparkle Gem. Collecting eight of them during a play will combine them into a Sparkle Gem. They are comparable to Red Coins, but are found much closer to each other. A few levels, including A Snow Flower on Ice, have multiple sets of Sparkle pieces in a single level; the pieces do not carry over from one set to the next.

Super Mario Run[edit]

In Super Mario Run, a Sparkle Gem is granted for completing each of the nine Princess Peach missions during the Princess Peach: Showtime! event. A statue based on the game is unlocked for every three Sparkle Gems earned.

Tetris 99[edit]

In Tetris 99, Sparkle Gems are used as the KO icons and badges in the Princess Peach: Showtime! theme, which was released during the 39th Maximus Cup.
