Dūke are purple, anthropomorphic, grape-like creatures that serve as the primary enemies in Princess Peach: Showtime! They make up a vast majority of the Sour Bunch, a sinister theater troupe led by Grape that have taken over the Sparkle Theater. The Dūke serve loyally under Grape and consistently refer to her as "Madame Grape". As only they refer to her as such, this name is a recurring clue to identify characters who have bad intentions.

Dūke appear as short creatures with round heads, a pointy tip on top of the back of their heads (usually hidden by headgear), purple bodies, arms, legs and a golden, cat-eyed domino mask that display red pupils in black sclerae. Some variants are even shorter, with hands and feet directly attached to the head, as well as a mask with have round, connected eye sockets. Unlike the Theets, the Dūke do not have visible noses, despite their masks having an indent for one.

While various types of Dūke appear throughout the game, the standard Dūke appears only in the beginning scene of The Castle of Thorns. Likely due to the play's medieval setting, Dūke appear identical to the Heishi Dūke encountered later in the play, wearing a single bronze helmet with no decoration on top of a black chainmail hood. Dūke have simple behavior, slowly approaching Princess Peach, and dealing contact damage to her. Dūke are defeated with a single Sparkle, or one strike with Swordfighter Peach's sword. The Narazumono Dūke from the wild west plays, the Criminals in the beginning of The Case of the Missing Mural, and the Uchūjin Dūke from the alien invasion plays behave similarly to the regular Dūke.
