- This article is about the list of gear in the 3DS version of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. For the list of gear in the original, see List of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story gear.
In Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey, the gear mechanic is not changed from the original. Like in the original, there are several different gear types available: wear, socks, gloves, boots, and accessories for Mario and Luigi, and shells, bands, fangs, and rings for Bowser. Unlike the original, all three characters have three equipment slots available from the start of the game, but like in the original, each character can only wear one of a specific type of clothing. For the Mario Bros., the top slot is exclusively for wear, and for Bowser it is for a shell, and neither slot can be empty.

The internal parameters for this gear's special effect are 75 and 30, which results in a 75% chance for 0.3× DEF-Down. Other gear items have the chance of activation ranging from 25% to 50%. The abnormally high chance of activation combined with the exceptional DEF reduction implies that the chance and strength values were accidentally swapped. If the chance and strength values are swapped, then the likely intended effect is revealed to be a 30% chance for 0.75× DEF-Down. |
