Thwomp Volcano is a dormant volcano in the southeast corner of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mario Bros. come here in pursuit of Bowser (who has kidnapped Princess Shroob disguised as Princess Peach) during the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. The younger version of Professor E. Gadd used to live here prior to its annual eruption. The interior of the volcano, Thwomp Caverns, can be accessed by using Mr. Thwomp as an elevator, and deep inside the caverns, Bowser and Baby Bowser are fought.

After the Hydrogush 4000 renders the volcano inactive, the adult and baby bros journey inside after being confronted by Mr. Thwomp and Mrs. Thwomp. Mrs. Thwomp becomes outraged that the volcano became inactive and her husband loses his confidence. After the battle with Mrs. Thwomp, Mr. Thwomp agrees to help the Mario Bros. get a lift inside.

Unlike the game's other areas, Thwomp Volcano is nearly untouched by the Shroob invasion, other than the presence of Blazing Shroobs in the caverns. Notably, Toad mountaineers can be found outside, whereas everywhere else, most Toads have been captured.

Beanholes

Every Beanhole contains one Bean.

First area: In the second scene, the beanhole is found in the southwest corner.
First area: In the fourth scene, the beanhole is on the pedestal near the southwest corner of the scene.
First area: In the fifth scene, the player should use the Baby Cakes to access baby-only section. In there, the player should use the propellers to reach the top and jump on the trampoline. Once the babies are out, the player should head south and while falling quickly change the direction to the north. The babies will land right next to a beanhole.
Second area: After entering the second scene, the two large blocks are seen, with the beanhole in the middle of the top one. The player should use the Baby Spin to get to the southwest corner of that block and then jump to the beanhole.
Second area: In the same scene, after crossing the spike pit, the beanhole is found in the southwest corner of the scene.
Second area: In the third scene, the player should use the Baby Cakes to access another baby-only section with the propellers. Once on top, the player should jump under the purple block, which in turn makes a row of the yellow blocks move, thus making the stairs. Then the player should leave the baby-only section and have the adults reunite with the babies on that exact spot. From that spot, the player should use the Baby Spin and fly east to land on the large block with a beanhole in the middle.
Second area: In the fourth scene, near the northeast exit is a path only accessible by the Baby Cakes. The player should use the move and go along the path, where the beanhole will be found. The player should dig it out after the effect of the Baby Cakes wears off.
Second area: In the same scene, after the last bean, the player should head slightly southwest to fall into a hole. After landing, the beanhole is seen behind the babies.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should return to the exit and use the Baby Cakes again, this time continue along the path to reach the northwest corner of the scene with the beanhole. The player should dig it out after the effect of the Baby Cakes wears off.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should head south and fall down. The beanhole will be in the middle of the platform.
Second area: In the sixth scene, the player should take few steps north from the entrance, head east and after hitting the large block, throw the babies on it. The beanhole will be found in the middle of said block.
Second area: In the same scene, the player should head to northeast exit. To get there, the player should head northwest, up the slope, use the Baby Spin and the Bros. Ball at the top and continue east. But before going to the last scene of the area, the player should head south, fall down and change the direction to the north during the fall to land near the block. After landing, the player should head west and fall through the hole, landing near another beanhole.
Third area: In the first scene, the player should head to a northeast exit. But before going to the next scene, the player should use the Baby Spin and fly west on the large block which floats in the air. The beanhole is on the said block.
Third area: In the second scene, the player should use the Baby Cakes to get into another baby-only propeller section. While the babies move to a propeller, the adults will use Bros. Spin to power up the propeller, sending babies into the air. After reaching the top, the player should head east to land on the moving cloud and then continue east to find a purple block. The player should jump under it, which in turn makes the yellow wall in the main section sink into the ground, revealing the beanhole behind it. The player should head back into the main section and then east to the beanhole.
Third area: In the fifth scene, the player should head directly southeast from the entrance to fall down. After falling down, the beanhole will be behind the brothers.
