First appearance Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (2013)

The Elite Trio X is one of the bosses fought in the Battle Ring in Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. They are fought in the Normal Class 6 battle. Unlike most Battle Ring X bosses, there is no change in appearance between the versions of the Elite Trio. Additionally, they all have the boosted stats all of Battle Ring's X bosses have, and the sky in the background has changed from pink to yellow.

Battle[edit]

Elite Trio X

The battle plays out exactly the same as with the normal Elite Trio. Like before, the goal is to defeat all three at the same time. If one of them is defeated, one of the others will revive him. All three have two attacks each. Corporal Paraplonk X has either the choice to use a Mushroom on one of his allies or summon two Paratroopas to place two blocks next to Mario. This attack will continue indefinitely until Mario gets either hit or counters it by jumping on his shell. This will cause him to crash into the line of Sub-Goomba X's horizontally before Private Goomp X and damage them including Private Goomp X. Afterwards Corporal Paraplonk also ricochets to the background damaging the first row of Sub-Goomba X's.

Private Goomp X has the ability to call more Sub-Goomba X's if the amount on the field is low. If there are enough Sub-Goomba X's on the field Private Goomp can also use his secondary attack which involves stockpiling the Sub-Goomba X's and sending them to Mario. This attack can be countered by jumping on the Sub-Goomba X formation, sending them back to Goomp. After a few times the pile will hit Goomp X. If Mario gets hit by the attack the Sub-Goomba X's will immediately return to Goomp requiring Mario to jump over them in order to prevent getting hit again.

Sergeant Guy X has either the ability to load up their Banzai Bill cannon to launch it next turn or to transform Private Goomp X's Sub-Goomba X's into copies of himself. Both Sergeant Guy X and the copies will start attacking Mario with hammers. This attack can be countered by hitting Sergeant Guy X. His other attack involves loading up the Banzai Bill cannon, which requires a turn to charge. If Mario jumps on the cannon while it's loaded however the attack will backfire, causing the Banzai Bill to explode dealing massive damage to the entire trio. Otherwise the cannon will fire, requiring Mario to press A to outrun the Banzai Bill in order to prevent getting damaged by it. If Mario manages to outrun the Banzai Bill it will hit Sergeant Guy X instead.

Their final attack consists of Sergeant Guy X and Corporal Paraplonk X getting a huge Bob-omb and attempt to drop it on Mario. This will cause both Goomp X and the Sub-Goomba X's to run away from it, just like Mario. Mario can deal additional damage to Goomp X by jumping on him as he tries to escape. This will send him back to the Sub-Goomba X's. If the attack continues long enough the Bob-Omb will explode and deal damage to Sergeant Guy X and Corporaral Paraplonk X (and potentially Private Goomp X). If Mario gets hit however (either by the Sub-Goomba X's or Private Goomp X), he will trip and the bomb will get thrown on him, where it subsequently explodes.
