Ace Coins[1] are special coins that appear in Super Mario Advance. Each Ace Coin is large and red and sports an A. Ace Coins could be named because the player needs to collect all five within a level to beat, or "ace," it. While playing a level, when the player obtains all five Ace Coins, the player earns an extra life. Ace Coins are often in areas that require some effort to access. If the player replays a level, any Ace Coins that they have collected are transparent, and collecting them again still awards points but does not contribute to the overall total.
Ace Coins are comparable to Dragon Coins from Super Mario World as well as the Advance Coins in World-e of Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3.
