Nintendo Switch Family Showdown is a series of five videos released on Play Nintendo's YouTube channel. The series is formatted like a game show, where four families compete in Nintendo Switch games for the title of "Nintendo Switch Family Showdown Champion".

In the summer of 2018, Nintendo collaborated with Disney for the contest. Families from across the United States were asked to make videos explaining why they are the ultimate Nintendo family. Out of the thousands of videos made, four families were chosen to compete, with each having an actor from the Disney Channel as their team captains. The event took place in Hollywood, California on August 4, 2018. Footage from this event was split into five episodes and released on the Play Nintendo channel on August 27, 2018. The third episode was uploaded first, with all the other episodes posted in order following.[1]

Video descriptions[edit]

This description was copied and pasted into every episode.

Earlier this summer, we worked with our friends at Disney on the Nintendo Switch Family Showdown contest. Families were asked to submit videos answering the question, “Why are you the ultimate Nintendo family?” Of the thousands of videos that were submitted, four families were selected and competed against one another in a series of Nintendo Switch competitions for the title of Nintendo Switch Family Showdown Champion. The event was held on August 4 in Hollywood, CA.

Notable mistakes and errors[edit]

  • The first episode's ending states the families will play 1-2-Switch and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze in the following episode. While 1-2-Switch was played, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is not played until the fourth episode.
  • The second episode's title is not true, as Just Dance 2018 was played in the first episode and considered the first challenge. This mistake is repeated for the third and fourth episode's titles, where the games are listed as the second and third challenges when they are instead the third and fourth.
