Mario Kart Wii marks the first appearance of "Wii Moo Moo Meadows," alongside an additional arrangement of the theme that is incorporated in the second half of the staff credits theme, titled 「スタッフロールB」 (Sutaffu Rōru B, "Staff Roll B"). Both the original theme and the staff credits theme are included in the official Mario Kart Wii Platinum Soundtrack album.
Mario Kart 8[edit]
- “The original track just featured a live recording of a recorder, but for this title, we reworked that part, adding violin and guitar. The musicians arranged this themselves, which gave a really nice live feel to the proceedings. We hope this track will bring back memories of the faces of those lovable cows!”
- —Liner notes in the Mario Kart 8 Original Soundtrack
In Mario Kart 8 and the Nintendo Switch port, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, an arrangement of "Wii Moo Moo Meadows" plays in Wii Moo Moo Meadows. The first section of the arrangement is largely faithful to the original theme with updated instrumentation, but the second section introduces an extended violin solo. Additional percussion is added to the instrumentation whenever the player is driving at top speed while in first place.
This version of the track was arranged by Ryo Nagamatsu; the acoustic guitar was performed by Tetsuro Toyama, and the violin was performed by Hitoshi Konno. In the Mario Kart 8 Original Soundtrack's Japanese liner notes, it is referred to as a "self-arrangement" (セルフアレンジ), which is a Japanese term used for when a music composer arranges their own work (comparable to セルフカバー "self-cover").[3] The official English translation instead states that "the musicians arranged this themselves."

But in this version, along with the rerecorded recorder, the violin and guitar are live too! It returned as a much more expressive self-arrangement.
