"Ending"[1] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic and Super Mario Bros. 2, where it plays during the ending cutscene.
History[edit]
Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic / Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic marks the first appearance of "Ending". When that game was later redeveloped as Super Mario Bros. 2, the theme was given slightly more enhanced instrumentation, which is the version that subsequent appearances of the theme in the Super Mario franchise are based on. The Super Mario Bros. 2 version is also included in the official albums FAMICOM 20TH ANNIVERSARY GAMEMUSIC DVD, Game Sound Museum: Mario Bros. / Super Mario USA, and Famicom Sound History Series: Mario the Music.
Super Mario All-Stars[edit]
In the SNES remake of Super Mario Bros. 2 in Super Mario All-Stars, as well as its reissues Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World and Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition, an arrangement of "Ending" plays for the same purpose as in the original game.

Super Mario Advance[edit]
In the Game Boy Advance remake of Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Advance, an arrangement of "Ending" plays for the same purpose as in the original game. This arrangement plays in a slightly higher pitch, aside from the drums and percussion.

Super Mario Maker 2[edit]
In Super Mario Maker 2, the second half of the original version of "Ending" plays whenever the "Peaceful" sound effect is triggered while the player is in their SMB2 form.
