"Toad's Turnpike",[1][2] also known as simply "Highway",[3] is a musical theme composed by Kenta Nagata for Mario Kart 64, where it plays in the race course of the same name.

Mario Kart 64 marks the first appearance of "Toad's Turnpike". It is also included in the official soundtrack albums Mario Kart 64 Race Tracks, Mario Kart 64 Original Soundtrack, and Mario Kart 64: Greatest Hits Soundtrack.

Mario Kart 7[edit]

Main article: Neo Bowser City (theme)

In Mario Kart 7, a techno medley arrangement of "Toad Circuit" and "Mario Kart 7 Title Screen" from the same game, "Toad's Turnpike" from Mario Kart 64, and "Luigi Circuit" from Mario Kart Wii plays in Neo Bowser City. It is likewise titled "Neo Bowser City" in the Nintendo Music app.

Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[edit]

In Mario Kart 8 and the Nintendo Switch port, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, an arrangement of "Toad's Turnpike" arranged by Yasuaki Iwata plays in N64 Toad's Turnpike. It is likewise titled "N64 Toad's Turnpike" in the Nintendo Music app and the official Mario Kart 8 Original Soundtrack album. A looping drum set beat is added to the instrumentation whenever the player is driving at top speed while in first place.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, a jazz-funk arrangement of "Toad's Turnpike" can play in Free Roam and on any VS Race route during nighttime. This arrangement plays the main melody mostly on an electric piano and has a section that references "the lick".
