"Koopaling Battle",[2] also known as "Koopa Battle 2",[1] "Boss Music",[3] or "Castle Boss",[4] is a musical theme composed by Kenta Nagata for New Super Mario Bros. Wii, where it plays during the boss battles against the Koopalings in each of the game's seven regular castle levels. The intro is based on that of "Fortress Boss" from Super Mario Bros. 3.

New Super Mario Bros. Wii marks the first appearance of "Koopaling Battle".

New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]

In New Super Mario Bros. 2, the original version of "Koopaling Battle" plays during the boss battles against the Koopalings in each of the game's seven regular castle levels.

New Super Mario Bros. U / New Super Luigi U / New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]

In New Super Mario Bros. U, New Super Luigi U, and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe, the original version of "Koopaling Battle" plays during the boss battles against the Koopalings in each of the game's seven regular castle levels.

Super Mario Maker / Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS / Super Mario Maker 2[edit]

In Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Mario Maker 2, the original version of "Koopaling Battle" plays when the "Boss Music" sound effect is triggered in New Super Mario Bros. U-style levels.

Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition[edit]

In Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Bros. Edition, the original version of "Koopaling Battle" plays during all boss battles against the Koopalings.

The Wii U version of Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games features two arrangements of "Koopaling Battle".

A jazz fusion arrangement of "Koopaling Battle" can be chosen as the background music for events. It also during the Equestrian event against Larry Koopa. It is titled "Larry Koopa's Theme" in the game's sound test.

A techno arrangement of "Koopaling Battle" can be chosen as the background music for events. It also during the 100m Freestyle Swimming event against Wendy O. Koopa. It is titled "Wendy's Theme" in the game's sound test.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, a jazz fusion arrangement of "Koopaling Battle" can play in Free Roam during the day, on the route from Sky-High Sundae to Wario Shipyard in the Star Cup, on VS Race routes coming from Airship Fortress, Wario Shipyard, Dry Bones Burnout, and Bowser's Castle during any time of day, and on any VS Race route during nighttime. It is titled "Castle Boss" in the game's pause menu.
