"Star Ball"[1][2] is a musical theme composed by Mahito Yokota for Super Mario Galaxy, where it plays while the player is standing on the Star Ball in the Rolling Green Galaxy and the Rolling Gizmo Galaxy.

Super Mario Galaxy[edit]

Super Mario Galaxy marks the first appearance of "Star Ball". It is also included in the official Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack album.

An arrangement of "Star Ball", also arranged by Mahito Yokota, plays while the player is standing on the Star Ball during the mission "Through the Meteor Storm" in the Melty Molten Galaxy. It is titled "Star Ball 2" in the Nintendo Music app and the official Super Mario Galaxy Original Soundtrack album.

Both "Star Ball" and "Star Ball 2" return in the Nintendo Switch ports, Super Mario 3D All-Stars and Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2, for the same purposes.
