"Chai Kingdom BGM"[1] is a musical theme composed by Hirokazu Tanaka for Super Mario Land, where it plays in levels World 4-1 and World 4-2, which take place in the Chai Kingdom. The intro of the theme is the Oriental riff.

Super Mario Land[edit]

Super Mario Land marks the first appearance of "Chai Kingdom BGM." The theme is also included in the official albums Super Mario Land and Game Boy Graffiti as part of a medley of multiple themes from the original game, and The 30th Anniversary Super Mario Bros. Music as an individual track.

WarioWare: Get It Together![edit]

In WarioWare: Get It Together!, an excerpt of "Chai Kingdom BGM" plays in level 3 of the Super Mario Land microgame.

The Super Mario Land album features an arrangement of "Chai Kingdom BGM" arranged by Ikuro Fugiwara, titled 「CHINESE (中国風面BGM)」 (CHINESE (Chūgoku kazaomote BGM), "CHINESE (Chinese Style Stage BGM)").

Super Mario Compact Disco[edit]

The Super Mario Compact Disco features a hip hop remix medley of "Chai Kingdom BGM" and the "Underground Theme" from the same game titled "Go, Mario, Go!" and arranged by Simon Harris and Colin Case. This remix features rap lyrics sung by Colin Case as M.C. Mario, with several references to Mario's games throughout the 1980s.

Super Mario Compact Disco – 35th Anniversary Edition features a remastered version of "Go, Mario, Go!" titled "Go, Mario, Go! (feat. MC Mario) [Remastered]," a club remix titled "Go, Mario, Go (X - Tended Club Mix (feat. MC Mario)) [Bonus Track]," and an instrumental version titled "Go, Mario, Go (Instrumental (feat. MC Mario)) [Bonus Track]."
