World 1-2 is the second level of Super Mario Land, part of the Birabuto Kingdom of Sarasaland. This level takes place on several islands that look like palm trees.
Layout[edit]
The level begins next to a set of islands. Coins, a Mystery Block, and a Goombo are on the first half, and the second half containing a few Bunbuns and Bombshell Koopas. After a column of three coins is another island set with a pair of enemies and four Mystery Blocks, along with a Hidden Block containing a 1UP heart. Two lifts, each moving vertically, float in-between two sets of islands.
After traversing the lifts, Mario reaches two large islands with more Bunbuns flying across. Afterwards is a low island followed by a solid block pyramid with two Goombos and a Mystery Block above. Next is three lifts above another pit.
After that, Mario reaches another column of three coins followed by another set of islands with a Bunbun, Bombshell Koopa, as well as Mystery Blocks and bricks. A horizontal-moving lift takes Mario to a piece of ground and a final set of two islands, with two last Bunbuns flying above.
The goal area contains a vertical-moving lift that allows Mario to reach two dropping lifts, leading him to the higher door.
Checkpoints[edit]
Super Mario Land contains unmarked checkpoints. The places Mario resumes from after a death in World 1-2 are:
- The start of the level.
- On the island directly below the first column of coins.
- On the low island after the two large islands with Bunbuns.
- On the piece of ground before the final two islands.
