Bombshell Koopas,[1] originally known as Nokobon[2] or Nobokon,[3][4] are enemies debuting in Super Mario Land. They are Koopa Troopa varieties with bombs for shells. Their counterpart in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins is Noko Bombette.

History[edit]

Super Mario Land[edit]

Bombshell Koopas are in every level of Super Mario Land except Worlds 2-3 and 4-3. They move back and forth without going off of platforms, like red-shelled Koopa Troopas. Bombshell Koopas explode shortly after being stomped,[4] which can harm Mario. A Superball can defeat a Bombshell Koopa without exploding it.

Super Mario Land manga[edit]

Following the Goombos, Bombshell Koopas are the second enemy fought by Mario and Mecha Kuribō in the Super Mario Land manga. Bombshell Koopas become bombs when stomped, exploding on a confused Mario.

During the last chapter, an exploding Bombshell Koopa destroys a magical seal tossed by a Goombo.

WarioWare Gold[edit]

A Bombshell Koopa appears in the Super Mario Land microgame in WarioWare Gold, where it is one of the enemies Mario must throw a Superball at.
