"World 3 Map (Water Land)"[1] is a musical theme composed by Koji Kondo for Super Mario Bros. 3, where it plays in the overworld map for Water Land, the third world of the game.
A similar melody has appeared in the The Legend of Zelda franchise as the "Fairy Fountain" theme. However, in a 2004 interview with Kondo, he claimed that the similarity between the two themes is coincidental.[2]
Arrangements of the bass line are often used for beach-themed Mario Kart courses such as Koopa Beach from Super Mario Kart and Cheep Cheep Lagoon from Mario Kart 7.

The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3[edit]
Three different arrangements of "World 3 Map (Water Land)" can be heard in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3, as the show is based on Super Mario Bros. 3.
The first arrangement plays in "The Beauty of Kootie", during the scene where Lady Fettuccini Alfredo introduces herself to Mario and Luigi. It is a slower, serene arrangement of the theme.
The second arrangement plays in "Reign Storm", during the scene where Princess Toadstool and Toad arrive at Hawaii, and the scene where Cutter is introduced. This arrangement is closer to the original composition's tempo, but plays at a lower key.
The third arrangement plays in "7 Continents for 7 Koopas", as Mario, Luigi, and Toad run after the Doom Ship. This arrangement is faster in tempo, and plays at a much higher key.

It is titled the "Overworld Medley" in the game's pause menu.
