Chapter 1

攻略こうちやくその1(Wワールド1〜3)マリオのあらたなる冒険ぼうけん!! ("Walkthrough 1 (Worlds 1-3) Mario's new adventure!!)

At the Mario Bros.' House, while Mario is repairing his dog's house, Luigi is playing games on the TV. Suddenly the TV malfunctions and when Mario comes in to check, Princess Peach appears on the screen asking for help. Before she can say more, Bowser appears and grabs her. He then explains to Mario that he turned the Kings of the Mushroom World into animals, and if he wants to save them and the princess, he will have to face his seven kids, the Koopalings. Without hesitation, Mario jumps inside the screen, while Luigi laments his lack of research.

Mario is teleported to the Grass Land, while Luigi gives Mario instructions by talking to him from outside the screen. In World 1-1, Mario is greeted by familiar Goombas, Koopa Troopas, and what he thinks is a Piranha Plant, but the latter spits a fireball at him, presenting itself as a Fire Piranha Plant. With a swift leap, Mario skillfully dodges it and strikes a ? Block and acquires a Super Mushroom. After defeating the Koopa Troopas, he kicks a shell against another ? Block, unveiling a strange leaf that Luigi recommends picking up. Doing so, Mario turns into Racoon Mario, and with his newfound tail, he removes the incoming enemies and flies to the Goal, clearing the stage. Back in the world map, the Hammer Brother patrolling the south area turns into a Treasure Ship. Luigi understands that, by clearing the stage with the coin counter having the same double digits and having the same number match the scores tens digit, this prompts the Treasure Ship to appears, but still leaves the a Hammer Brother encounter by the end of it.

Next up, is World 1-Fortress, where Mario gets startled by the living skeletons that are the Dry Bones. At the end of the Fortress, Mario comes face to face with the miniboss Boom Boom and, despite mistaking it for a ghost, he gets the upper hand and defeats him. Onwards to the Grass Land Castle, where Koopaling Larry awaits in World 1-Airship. After defeating him with the power of the Fire Flower, Mario returns the Magic Wand the Koopaling stole to the King, turning him back to his human form. Grateful, the King gives Mario a letter from Peach, in which he informs Mario of the dangers of the "Boo" Diddlys and gifts him a P-Wing. The King then explains the properties of the P-Wing: turning into Racoon Mario with an infinite amount of power to fly.

Up comes the second world: Desert Land. Luigi warns Mario that he will come across dangerous enemies and quicksand, but Mario is still too giggly from Peach's letter that, as he enters World 2-1, he is ambushed by Pile Driver Micro-Goombas and a Fire Snake. Now in World 2-2, Mario gets distracted and lands in a quicksand puddle. As he sinks, Bowser delightfully watches from his magic orb, while Peach yells at him to jump to get out of the sand, but it is too late. Mario gets a Game Over and is spit out from the screen. While Mario takes the time to breathe, Luigi switches places with him and enters the screen, ready to put to good use everything he researched on.

In World 2-Fortress, Luigi uses the Racoon form and three patrolling Dry Bones to jump on them and obtains a lot of extra lives, until he messes up the jump and the Dry Bones get him. Luigi goes back to his house, and suggests Mario tries the infinite-UP trick too to have more chances in the future, but Mario disagrees, claiming that Peach must be saved as soon as possible. In World 2-Desert, Mario struggles a bit against a tornado, but after jumping over it, Mario is then chased by the Angry Sun. Back to the world map, Mario keeps hearing a Hammer Brother patrol moving, but cannot find it on the screen. Hearing the noise from behind a rock, Luigi suggests trying using a hammer to break it. Behind it, Mario finds a secret oasis, with a Fire Brother patrol. After defeating it, Mario obtains the Magic Whistle as a reward. By playing it, a magic tornado appears and takes him to the Warp Zone, where he dives into the World 3's Warp Pipe, arriving in Water Land.

After seeing a way to reach the castle with a boat, Mario clears the underwater stage World 3-1. He then finds a Mushroom House where he finds a Frog Suit and uses it to clear World 3-2, despite messing up the jumps with the imprecise walk the suit grants him. In World 3-3, he decides to use the swimming ability of the suit, only to lose the suit after nearly ending up in the maw of a Boss Bass.

Upset that the Boss Bass left after munching the suit, Bowser unleashes his army against Mario: Boomerang Brothers, Spikes, Chain Chomps, Hot Feet, Thwomps, Lakitus, Jelectros, and a flying Boom Boom, but Mario manages to come out unscathed and reaches World 3-Airship. Wendy also attacks him with everything she has: Rocky Wrenches, Burners, Cannonballs, and Rings, but Racoon Mario comes out victorious.

In the next world, Mario reunites with Luigi, who cleared the rest of Desert Land by himself and got there via the Warp Zone. He also found a Mushroom House behind a rock and obtained a silly-looking Tanooki Suit that grants him the same powers as a Super Leaf and the ability to turn into a statue. In Bowser's lair, Peach is glad to see that Mario made it out alive of Water Land, but Bowser warns her to abandon all hope: World 4 is Giant Land, where everything and everyone, including enemies, are big in size and they will surely squash Mario like a bug.

Chapter 2[edit]

Chapter 2

攻略こうちやくその2(Wワールド4〜6)クッパ大王だいおうのワナ!! ("Walkthrough 2 (Worlds 4-6) King Bowser's trap!!)

Bowser's prediction becomes true: as he enters World 4-1, Mario is attacked and beaten up by a Grand Goomba and a Colossal Koopa Paratroopa. While Toad tends to him on the world map, Luigi goes forward. He too gets scared by the giant enemies, but after failing to take refuge on top of a Mega ? Block, he slips and falls on top of the Grand Goomba, squashing it with ease, discovering that the giant enemies' weakness remains the same. Bowser is not happy about that and sends his kids to stop them. In World 4-3, Luigi encounters two giant Sledge Brothers, but due to their overweight appearance and snotty nose, he does not consider them a threat. Though it takes them a moment to grasp the insult, the Sledge Brothers quickly retaliate with fierce aggression, by slamming their foot on the ground, causing Luigi to be immobilized by the quake. Thanks to his Tanooki Suit, however, Luigi manages to protect himself from their hammers and, after avoiding another quake attack, he defeats them. Some minutes after, Mario wakes up from his restoring nap to see Luigi finishing World 4-Airship and defeating Iggy.

Next it is World 5, Sky Land. Mario and Luigi decide to race through the world to see who can clear it first. In World 5-3, Mario comes across a Kuribo's Goomba and steals its shoe, scaring the other enemies, as they now fall under his stomps, even the spiked ones. While the brothers are climbing the World 5-Tower, Bowser calls a Goomba and a Spiny and turns them into crooked versions of Mario and Toad. Peach is confused, so Ludwig shows her their plan in action through the magic orb. Once in the upper Sky Land, Luigi meets up with the evil Mario, who directs him towards a Treasure Ship, promising to wait for him to plunder it before continuing the race. Because of this, the real Mario reaches World 5-Airship first and makes quick work of Roy. Luigi witnesses from afar the destruction of the Airship, believing his brother tricked him, and what is worse, the evil Toad shows him that the King has prepared a party for Mario with dancers, bunny girls, and booze, and Luigi is not invited so he can go already to the next world, Ice Land.

Luigi is angry at Mario, and Peach too, but after a while Mario wakes up from all the drinking and discovers that the party guests and servers were the Koopa Troop in disguise and quietly leaves. Arrived in World 6, Mario meets up with Luigi who decides to abandon the quest, since he is apparently good enough to collect coins. Mario is confused, but eventually gives up and lets him go, much to Bowser's delight. Alone against the icy world and its enemy, Mario arrives in World 6-10 and finds a Warp Pipe hidden beneath some frozen Munchers. After converting them into coins with a Switch Block, Mario enters a secret area and finds a Hammer Suit. He uses it against the last Hammer Brother patrol, but while he manages to defeat them, he gets hit by one hammer, losing the suit. While Mario is approaching World 6-Airship, Luigi is having fun at the Mushroom Houses and Spade Panels, until he comes across a White Mushroom House that appears out of nowhere. Inside, the Toad running it gifts him a rare item: an Anchor. While Luigi tries to figure out what the item does, the evil Toad appears and tells him that it is useless and he should throw it away. As Luigi grows suspicious of him, the evil Mario appears and steals the Anchor. The two then flee, mocking him and claiming that by now Mario is dead, but they end up slip on the ice and crash into a rock, losing their disguises. Having realized he fell for Bowser's trap, Luigi goes to Mario's rescue. Meanwhile, Mario has failed his attack to Lemmy's airship, so he declares he will be fleeing, forcing Mario to chase him to the other side of the map, but as he does that, the ship comes to a halt: Luigi has placed the Anchor down, pinning the airship to that location. He then gives Mario his spare Super Leaf and Mario makes another attempt at attacking Lemmy's ship. He manages to get past the burners, but Mario then struggles against the Koopaling's rubber balls. On the verge of giving up, Mario hears Princess Peach's prayers and pulls himself back up, defeating Lemmy.

After celebrating, Bowser appears in the distance telling them they still have two worlds ahead of them, and those are the hardest ones. The Mario Bros. do not back down and run towards him.

Chapter 3[edit]

Chapter 3

攻略こうちやくその3(Wワールド7〜8)クッパ大王だいおうをやっつけろ!! ("Walkthrough 3 (Worlds 7-8) Defeat King Bowser!!)

While approaching Bowser, Mario and Luigi trip and fall into a pipe, arriving in World 7 Pipe Land, where the last Koopaling is waiting, Ludwig, who informs the brothers that the world is structured like maze of Warp Pipes and, instead of Hammer Brother patrols, they will find Fire Piranha Plants instead. In World 7-1, Mario proposes a new race to see who will get to Bowser's Castle first. In World 7-4, Mario comments on the lack of new enemies, meaning that Bowser's army is decreasing more and more, nearly getting ambushed by a Scattering Bloober, but Peach's voice informs them of the peril. Thanks to her suggestions, the Mario Bros. enter World 7-Fortress 1 in Racoon form and, thanks to the Switch Block, collect a lot of coins while making their way to Boom Boom. In World 7-6 have fun with the Directional Lifts, until they bump into each other. In World 7-7, the Mario Bros. are stumped by seeing an extended floor of Munchers blocking their path, but Peach tells them to use the Continuous Starman inside the blocks and get over the Muncher unscathed. Bowser is surprised to see the brothers discovering his tricks so easily, until he realizes that Peach is using his magic orb to see Mario's progress and her telepathy to inform him. After breaking the orb, Bowser is about to punish Peach by turning her into a pig, but she pleads for her life, promising to do anything he asks for. As Bowser is making his request, Mario arrives in World 7-Airship and defeats Ludwig by dodging his earthquake attacks. The Mario Bros. take the magic wand to the castle, but get scared by the presence of a Piranha Plant and attacks it, before the Toads inform them that they are assaulting the Pipe Land King.

After turning the King back to normal, he tries to persuade them from entering Dark Land, as nobody returned from Bowser's domain alive, but they insist they have to rescue Peach. As they put foot in World 8, the brothers are attacked by tanks and battleships. Mario calls for Peach's help, but she informs him that, without the magic orb to see their surroundings, she cannot be of any assistance. After surviving the tanks and fleet, Mario and Luigi proceed in the Dark Land, only for Luigi to be snatched by a giant hand and dragged in World 8-trap. He manages to clear the stage, but as he exits it, another hand tries to drag him back, but Mario saves him, resulting in Luigi to have his pants ripped. Next is World 8-Jet, with small fast airships, but despite the speed, Mario and Luigi manage to pass it. A Dry Bones tries to report to Bowser, but he does not listen to it, being too eager to eat Peach's feast, after she accepted the deal to be his personal chef. Next up, is a part of the Dark Land so dark Mario and Luigi are unable to see around them. After finding the World 8-1, Luigi fails to notice where he is stepping and is swallowed by quicksand. Before he sinks completely, Luigi tosses Mario his backpack full of items obtained from Mushroom Houses, and disappears under the sand. Mario cries for his loss, then angerly proceeds to investigate in all of the Warp Pipes of the area to look for Bowser's Castle, but he only ends up finding just a Kamen Rider cameo, the Kodansha publishing office, the unlit writing room of Kazuki Motoyama, and a giant feces.

Finally, after hours of searching, Mario finds World 8-Bowser's Castle. Armed with a P-Wing, he flies towards the palace, seeing Peach waving at the window, before Bowser puts her in a cage. Using the P-Wing's power, Mario flies over the enemies, but Bowser is prepared and shoots Mario down with the laser of a Bowser Statue. Bowser approaches him, ready to finish him off, but Mario picks up another P-Wing from his backpack and the final battle begins. Bowser attempts to use his Ground Pounds and Flames to dispose of him, but Mario manages to dodge them. He then approaches Bowser to stomp on him, but his attacks are futile. Being so close to him, Mario is burned and reverts to his Small form. About to squash him, Bowser loses sight of him, and what is worse, because of what he ate, his belly prevents him from looking down, unable to see Mario, forcing him to awkwardly waddle in place. His thunderous footsteps continue to fracture the floor until it ultimately gives way beneath him. His landing generates an earthquake so intense that it causes not only Peach's cage to collapse, but the entire castle too. Mario and Peach flee outside, where they reunite with Luigi: the quicksand he fell in led to a bonus area, and he survived. Mario is happy to have back his brother, but he punishes him for making him worried, by leaving him to finish the doghouse at home. Hearing that, Peach laments that the Mushroom Kingdom was destroyed by Bowser: she has no home to return to, but Mario comforts her, explaining that, with the power of the Seven Kings' wands, they can restore it. Indeed, the Mushroom Kingdom has been restored, and the Mario Bros. along with Princess Peach are hailed as heroes upon their triumphant return.

Chapter 4[edit]

Chapter 4

攻略こうちやくその4(番外ばんがいへん)オモシロかみわざだい集合しゅうごう!! ("Walkthrough 4 (Extra edition) A huge collection of fun godly moves!!)

With Peach rescued, Mario informs the reader that they are not done yet. To promote replayability, Mario makes a new game file as he, Luigi, and Peach will illustrate eight game tricks and secrets.

  1. しっぽマリオで無限むげん増殖ぞうしょく!!("Infinite life trick with Racoon Mario!"): in World 1-2, Mario suggests transforming into Racoon Mario (also suggesting on how to get that form in the level) and going back to the T-shaped Warp Pipe by the start, where Goombas are infinitely generated. With the power of the tail, Mario can bounce on the Goombas, float in the air while more Goombas emerge from the pipe and gain extra lives. At one point, two strong Goombas get tired of seeing Mario squashing their friends and stop him. Mario loses a life, but explains that, with the Time Limit only about 30 extra lives can be gained per try, but it will not take long to max out the life-counter.
  2. ふえのとりかた完全かんぜん解説かいせつ!!("A complete explanation on how to play the Magic Whistle!"): Mario asks Peach about her letter he received after World 6: "Please retrieve the Magic Whistle hidden in the darkness at the end of the Third world". Peach leads Mario to World 1-3 and asks him to crouch on the White Block near the end. Mario does so and falls in the background. Peach tells him to go to the end and he goes behind the dark background of the goal area, entering a hidden Mushroom House. The item he obtains is a Magic Whistle. Peach then explains that there is a second Magic Whistle hidden in World 1: in World 1-fortress 3, Mario needs to get the Racoon form (obtainable from the ? Block by the Dry Bones), build up speed, and fly in the ceiling, he will find a secret passage that will drop him in a secret room with the second Magic Whistle. Even better, by collecting it, the fortress stage is considered cleared, without the need to face Boom Boom. The third and last Magic Whistle was already found in chapter 1 of the manga, but Peach explains it: with the hint from the letter received after clearing World 4 ("The thief who stole the Whistle has escaped to the east side of the sand Dunes."), Mario needs to use a hammer to reveal the secret oasis in World 2, defeat the Fire Broters and obtain the last Whistle. With the help of Luigi, ambushing the Fire Brothers from behind, Mario obtains all three Magic Whistles.
  3. 宝船たからぶね出現しゅつ げん法則ほうそく伝授でんじゅ!!("The rules to follow to make the Treasure Ship appear!"): Luigi wants to obtain more coins. Peach explains then how to summon a Treasure Ship: by having the same number in both digits of the coin-counter and matching them the tens digit of the final score after reaching the goal in a stage, one of the Hammer Brother patrols in the map will turn into a Treasure Ship. However, since the goal awards 50 points for each second remaining in the timer, he has to clear the stage when the timer is an even number, to ensure to meet the condition. Luigi follows the instructions and summons a Treasure Ship, collects all the coins he can, defeats the Boomerang Brothers at the end of the ship, and enjoys the spoils.
  4. かくれキノピオのいえかた!!("How to find the White Mushroom House!"): on a greedy spree, Racoon Luigi starts to collect all the coins in World 1-4. He manages to empty the first Coin Block, but while doing the second, his continuous jumping causes him to float in the air with his tail, causing the autoscroll to prevent him from collecting all the coins from the Block and also fall down. Noticing the drawbacks of the tail, Peach tells Luigi that if he collects all the coins in the stage, a White Mushroom House will appear. Curious, Luigi tries again and succeeds with the Super form to collect all the coins and the White Mushroom House appears. The Toad inside explains that, by finding him in odd-numbered world, he will gift them a P-Wing, or an Anchor in even-numbered worlds.
  5. チビマリオでも無限むげん増殖ぞうしょく!!("An infinite life trick that even Small Mario can do!"): in World 4-5, Mario shows how to another infinite life trick. By carrying a Colossal Koopa Paratroopa shell to the Turtle Cannons section (by being careful to avoid losing the shell by hitting Piranhacus Giganticus while carrying it, and being careful that the Paratroopa does not wake up), by kicking the shell between two low Cannons, Mario can collect a lot of 1-Ups from the fired Bullet Bills.
  6. 地蔵じぞうブーツマリオに変身へんしんして無敵むてきになれ!!("Transform into Statue Shoe Mario and become invincible!"): in World 4, Mario can collect a Tanooki Suit, which grants him the Racoon powers plus the ability to turn into an invincible statue temporarily. By carrying the power-up (easily obtainable from the Mushroom House blocked by a rock in World 4), the player should use it in World 5-3 and as they jump in a Goomba's Shoe turn into a statue. This way, Mario will be invincible from any damage, on top of the spike protection the shoe grants. Peach is so amazed by this glitch she tries it out herself: one small problem. While Luigi and Mario proceed onto the next part of the level through the Warp Pipe, Shoe-statue-Peach is unable to enter it. Luckily for her, the glitch can be reverted by collecting a Super Leaf, canceling the statue form and the permanent invincibility.
  7. トゲゾーを利用りようして1UPワン アップ!!("Use Spinies to get 1-Ups!"): by the end of the tricky athletic level that is World 5-4, a Lakitu is patrolling the goal area. Instead of grabbing the goal, Mario awaits that it drops enough Spinies, then clears the stage: with enough enemies on the screen by the goal, they are converted into points and, with enough of them, they can grant 1-Ups.
  8. どろうみおよいでらくらくクリアー!!("Easily clear the muddy sea by swimming!"): after warping to World 8, the group clears World 8-Tank, but when entering World 8-Ship, Mario trips and falls off the ships in the mud. Unable to jump back on, Peach tells him to swim under the fleet. This way, he will avoid dying getting crushed by the autoscroll, and will reach safely the final ship, without risking his life against the Cannonballs.

Bowser appears, ready for the final confrontation, but the heroes claim they have covered enough strategies, so they can close the chapter here and then. Bowser laments that he did not get enough screentime and they are so mean for leaving him out of the chapter.

Extra[edit]

秘密ひみつ攻略こうりゃくデータしゅう ("Secret Strategy Data Collection")

After each chapter, a quick visual guide of the game's secret follows, listing the number of 1-UPs, Switch Blocks, bonus areas, Mario's optimal form, and a difficulty rate from 1 to 10.

Glitch compendium[edit]

オモシロかみわざだい集合しゅうごう ("Interesting divine work research")

The last section of the manga is a small guide on a couple of glitches and easter eggs found in the game.

  1. ワープゾーンから脱出だつしゅう!?("Escape from the Warp Zone?"): by using a Magic Whistle while on a boat in World 3, the boat's physics will remain with Mario, allowing him to leave the Warp Zone island, and by leaving the area the screen will become glitchy and corrupted. Luckily the damage can be undone with another Magic Whistle.
  2. 宝相たからばこ瞬间しゅんかんとう!?("Instant treasure?"): (only the in the Famicom version) in World 5-1 ends in the same sublevel as a bonus area containing a chest with a Music Box. Using a P-Wing, the player can fly to the out-of-frame roof of the walled area and trigger the apparition of the treasure chest, that will appear in the wall by the main exit pipe. Continuing towards the goal, the Walking Piranha will be glitched and collecting the goal will result in the writings to be corrupted, and will also cause the apparition of a treasure chest that Mario will automatically collect, revealing a fourth Magic Whistle..
  3. かべのむこうかわ1UPワン アップが・・・・ ("There's a 1UP on the other side of the wall..."): in World 5-Tower, while in the first exterior area, the player must use a P-Wing to fly over the exit pipe, where he can find a hidden area with a 1-UP block. Using the tail, the player can also destroy the wall to go back and collect the 4 Coin Blocks by the wall next to the pipe.
  4. おうさまのメッセージが変化へんかする ("The King's message changes"): normally, the rescued King would thank Mario for bringing peace to his kingdom and then give Peach's letter, but in case Mario clears the Airship stage in Frog, Tanooki, or Hammer form, the King's message will change.
  5. クッパじょうでかべすりぬけ!!("Slipping in Bowser's Castle's walls!"): since Bowser's castle is divided in two routes, each route does not take to the same Bowser's boss fight, but the rooms are in the same area, divided by a tall wall. Using a P-Wing (before triggering Bowser's fight in Room 1), Mario can cross over the wall and trigger the other Bowser's fight (in Room 2).

This section is about a work that used to be available to the public, but is now partially or entirely inaccessible.
Details: missing plot
Our documentation of the subject is inadequate. Only remove this notice if the complete work is recovered and made available publicly.

A fifth chapter was also published in Comic BomBom the following month that was not preventively included in the paperback manga. By the looks of it, it seems to be an original gag story and not a visualized guide like the previous chapters.

The only page found online shows the ending of the story. Bowser picks up a hand-written note, listing all of Princess Peach's bad traits. As Luigi explains that is his, Bowser becomes distraught at the idea that he was going to ask such a terrible person to be his girlfriend, while Mario (in his P-Racoon form) shrugs in disbelief. Meanwhile, Peach is about to give Luigi a lesson, while he tries to escape by disguising as Akko-chan.
