マリオとワリオ (Mario & Wario)
Chapter 1[edit]
ワリオ、
Following the exorcism of Aku no Keshin from his body, Wario has become a playful good guy. One day he invites Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach to a picnic at Yōsei no Mori, arriving to the location via plane. For the occasion, Peach has prepare for the guys some homemade cookies: she gives Wario and Luigi a small bag each, and to Mario a giant sack of it. While Wario offers part of his share to Peach, who did not prepare any cookie for her, Mario decides, "out of the kindness of his heart", to give his share to Luigi, by swapping hats, so that Peach does not realize the switch up. Luigi digs in, only to understand the reason behind such generosity: Peach put salt in the cookies instead of sugar.
Right then, Peach notcies the presence of some tiny devil Wario's, going around and cutting down the trees of the area to make a strange wood structure. The group is concerned and confused when Wario shows suprise at their presence. Another creature appears, a fairy called Wanda, explaining that these devils are destroying her people's home. Distracted by her apparition (and arguing which gender she is), the devils take Wario away. The devils reveal themselves to be Aku no Keshin, ready to enact his revenge by repossessing Wario. Turned back evil, Wario trows a bucket attached to a rope at Mario's head, then pulls him away, while declaring he will end him. However, as Mario reveals, the "Mario" he caught was Luigi.
Filled with rage over this deception, Wario begins to torment Luigi by shaking him violently and striking his bucketed head. Mario runs on the structure's pillar to stop him, but the floor gives under him, and he plummets over a spiked floor. Wanda saves him, by summoning a Flip-Flop Block, then she creates a ladder with them to help Mario reach Wario. He uses his newfound dark powers to turn the blocks into Timer Blocks, making them disappear, but Peach saves him with her Floating Jump. With a Jump Block created by Wanda and an elevator, Mario and Peach return back on the structure.
To shoo away Mario, Wario summons a Guriguri from his booger, but Wanda resizes it, and Mario jumps at Wario. During their exchanges of punches, the floor cracks under them and they all fell down. Refusing to give up, Wario uses a Wiggler bomb, creating an explosion that blows up the wooden structure. Before Mario, Peach, and Wanda can recover from it, Wario summons a plane and flies away with Luigi, with the bucket still stuck on his head.
Chapter 2[edit]
ヨス
While chasing Wario, the trio arrives at Yosu Ko, where a sign informs the faint of hearts that a monster was once sited and they better return on their steps. Right then, someone pops up from the bushes, scarying Peach, but it is just Yoshi. He joins the group but he is unable to carry anyone since he forgot his saddle. Yoshi also tries to eat Wanda, but she teleports away, claiming that she cannot be eaten, leaving Yoshi stupefied. The group stumbles upon the tiny devil Warios, who are merrily dancing around a cauldron as they appear to be cooking Luigi. When the devil calls for reinforcements, a fearsome legion of ferocious Yosshīzaurusu emerges, representing the next stage of Yoshi evolution. However, the giant Yoshis decide to leave the heroes alone, recognizing a fellow member of their species in Yoshi, and Mario as a honorary member for his big nose. Hearing this, Wanda enlarges Peach's nose to make her a member too, before the Yosshīzaurusu attack her.
The Yosshīzaurusu turns its attention to the meal, but not before extracting the victim from the soup. Mario goes to remove the bucket, only to discover it was Mototin and not Luigi. Wario appears, and captures the heroes' attention on his new structure carved in the Kumotori Yama, where Luigi (with a Yoshi Eggshell bucket) is tied at the end of the course, with a lit dynamite at his feet. The heroes enter the course: Yoshi, fasten up by the lack of his saddle, keeps bumping into walls and STOP signs, while Peach takes it slowly to not fall. This distracts a couple of Dodorigesu Jr., who were monitoring the heroes, and get kicked away by Mario. While Wario grumbles in anger that Wart scammed him by lending him "his strongest soldiers", Mario arrives to the top, stops the fuse of the dynamite and frees Luigi, only to discover that he was a dummy with a lit Bob-omb for a head.
The following explosion creates a hole in the mountain and the heroes falls down in an underground icy lagoon. While Wario, holding the real Luigi hostage, closes the hole, he informs them that, in a matter of minutes, they will all freeze to death, like the Baby Yoshis who fell down there. Yoshi and Peach immediately freeze, and Wanda tries to direct Mario towards the shore of the cave, but he freezes up to and sinks. Trying to find him, she lits her wand, accidetally waking up a flock of Komorin and dropping the wand. The wand lands on Mario's head, incidentally granting him the Fire form. Using his fireballs, Mario finds a sleeping Giant Blargg at the bottom of the lake, the fabled monster of Yosu Ko.
Exerting all his fire power, Mario wakes up the Blargg, causing its fire breath and fire aura to bring heat to the cave, burning down the Komorin that were pestering Wanda. Rescuing the unfrozen Yoshi, Peach, and Baby Yoshis, the fire is spreading throughout the cave. Using his prehensile tongue, Yoshi shoves away the lid on the entrance hole and pulls everyone out. Wario, noticing the flames erupting from the ground, quickly escaped with Luigi on the Bulldog. Everything seems to have been solved, but the Fairy Elder appears: he informs Wanda and the others that they should have not awakened the Giant Blargg: eons ago, he was put to sleep because its flames were too strong that nearly caused the end of the world in a giant heatwave, and now history is about to repeat, but with a far more catastrophic outcome.
Chapter 3[edit]
Now awake, the Giant Blargg's flames will dry up the Earth, and in a matter of hours, it will consume the planet and finally destroy it. Already, Yosu Ko has evaporated, and the surroundings are turning into a desert. As the heroes are getting desperate, to the point of even blaming each others to blame who started the chain reaction that led to the awakening of the monster, Mario asks the Elder if there is a way to prevent the catastrophe. There is one way: in Fairy Land there is a nut that makes you mouth water.
On their way to Fairy Land, Mario, Yoshi, and Peach are suffering from the heat, to the point of of being tricked by mirages of vending machines, and mistaking each other's bottoms for delicious fruits, with Yoshi biting Peach's, and Peach biting Mario's, who scuttles away from the pain, dragging the two behind them, to a pond. After refreshing themselves, the pond dries out: Wario is literraly adding fuel to the fire, by bathing the monster with barrels of petrol to enlarge its flames.
After a while, the heroes find Fairy Land, a giant dome where trees are protected from the heat. An army of playing card soldiers guard the entrance, forbidding the entrance to non-fairy creatures. Taping fake wings to their back, Mario, Peach, and Yoshi enter, and the guards discover their trick too late, when Yoshi's wings fall off his back. Already inside, Mario explains to the fairies that they come in peace, looking for the mouth-watering nut. Alice, the fairy queen, appears. She explains that they cannot give away such rare nut, which only appears once every centuries. She instead offers another solution: soon they will detach Fairy Land from the ground to save themselves from the end of the world in the sky, offering them to join the fairies. Both the humans and their fairy companions refuses, claiming they should still try to fight for Earth, and leave, witnessing Fairy Land leaving the ground.
Another being leaves the dome: the Fairy Land Tree Spirit, the same that will bear the fruit they need, but unfortunately, it will bloom next year. However, the tree suggest to convey their will and feelings into itself to speed up the process. Mario, Peach, Yoshi, Wanda, and the Elder executes the plan, but their strenght is not strong enough, and only a weak bud appears. Just then, Alice and her subjects appear, and using their combined will and feelings, manage to fully bloom the fruit: a giant blue peach. Now they have to think of a way to toss it in Blargg's mouth, all the while avoiding getting burn by its aura. Yoshi takes an extreme decision, he gulps the fruit, already starts to mouth watering, and thanks to the blue coloration he grows wings. He then explains through a notebook, he will dive in the Giant Blargg's mouth to make it swallow all that water. Mario tries to stop him, but Yoshi departs and sacrifices himself. The Blargg devours him, but with all that water inside it, the flames dies and the monster turns to charcoal, leaving only its bones behind.
Wario is furious that the Blargg was killed, but he has ultimated his new base: Wario's Sky Fortress. Luigi is tied like a flag on the top pole. The final battle has begun.
Chapter 4[edit]
The final battle is approaching. After punishing Wanda for losing her wand, the Elder gives her his own to create blocks and, before he goes to take his nap, gives Mario the Mouse-gata Nunchaku, which can be used as a weapon as a guide through the labyrinthic structure. Wanda manages to save Mario and Peach with a Fūsen Block, but Wario uses his snot to make some blocks sticky, then makes more Guriguri, which Wanda takes care of. After being burnt by some Tsubōn, Mario is attacked by a Jellyfish and Piranha Plant buckets. While Mario is suffering from their stings and bites, Wario promises him to not send him to the afterlife alone, and starts to burn Luigi's rope, who is now dangling over the fortress' wall. Peach and Wanda reach Wario and throw him off the fortress. He falls onto Mario, squashing the two buckets, and Peach manages to grab Luigi in time.
Mario demands to know why Wario is tormenting them with these strange structures: Wario explains that, during their youth, he got stuck in the park's jungle gym, and instead of helping him, him and Luigi climbed to the top to impress Peach. All that Wario could see from that position, was Mario's big nose and, still resentfull, he stomps it. Just then, back at Yosu Ko (which got its water back, following the defeat of the Blargg), the Yosshīzaurusu sense that a fellow big-nosed borther is in trouble and march towards Wario's Sky Fortress to destroy it. Wario orders his mini-devil lookalikes to turn into the Bulldog, and fly off. Before he takes off, Luigi falls into the plane, after Peach let his rope go, tired out.
While Wario flies off with Luigi, Mario is rescued by the Yosshīzaurusu, who give him their "big nose power", refilling him with energy and a magic power concentrated in his big nose. Using their own plane, Mario, Peach, and Wanda tail the Bulldog and with the Mouse-gata Nunchaku, Mario finally saves his brother. Wario flies back to hammer their plane down with a mallet, but Mario uses Luigi's as a shield, and Wario ends up breaking the bucket, finally freeing Luigi. Tired of these failures, Aku no Keshin declares that it and Wario are done, and begins to disappear with the Bulldog. However, incited by Yoshi's voice he seems to hear from the sky, Mario uses his big nose power to take Aku no Kenshin down with an Excellent Hyper Nose Beam.
Aku no Kenshin disappears, forever this time, and Wario, freed again from its control, plummets into Yosu Ko. After landing, Mario and the others sigh in relief, and also find a Yoshi's Egg on the plane, realizing that Yoshi can revive by appearing in another egg: Yoshi too is alive and well. Wanda and the Elder thank Mario, and start to rebuild the forest with Alice and the other fairies, who will remain on Earth. Meanwhile, Luigi promises revenge for what Wario made him go through, while Wario (back to be a good guy) aks himself what happened to the tea party.
GO! GO! Mario Paint Theater[edit]
Part 1[edit]
もうひとつのピノキオ (Another Pinocchio)
After a little pun about the similarity between the Japanese names of Toad and Pinocchio, Mototin, dressed up as the puppet, poses the question what would happened if Pinocchio's ability to have his nose grow longer when he lies was applied to different characters.
A Sumo Brother, a Goomba, a Koopa Troopa, and a Monty Mole are chastizing Mario for having a big nose, sign that he is a liar. Mario claims that that is his natural size, as he proves by claiming that he likes Bowser, squashing the four scepticals with his enlarged nose.
Daisy and Peach greet each other, complimenting how very beautiful they look. This causes their noses to grow and they start fighting using their elongated noses as swords. Wanda tries to stop them by saying that fighting is not the answer, but her nose grows too.
Peach is courted by Bowser, Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and a Paragoomba, and she decides to go with the latter, since he has not got a nose, he does not and cannot lie.
The scenes moves to the Kodansha department, where Mototin is presenting this skit, claiming that he drew it entirely in Mario Paint, but his nose grows. His editors then tell how Motoyama got emotional when working on the Mario & Wario manga, and the entire department claims that this is what they work tirelessly and without every taking unnecessary breaks at Comic BomBom. As expected, their noses grow big, to the point of destroying the ceiling and roof of the building. At this, Mototin suggests that they should all stop lying.
Part 2[edit]
よっ!!シンデレラ!? (Hey! Cinderella?)
Once upon a time, a beautiful girl named Yoshi-nderella, living with her two mean stepsisters Wendy and Birdo. One day, the two stepsisters went to the local Juliana's, prohibiting Yoshi-nderella from leaving the house and to do all the chores, something she offered to do hoping that they would repay her with presents. Depressed, Yoshi-Cinderella recieves the visits of a kind Magikoopa, granting her a fancy dress and Egg-chariot pulled by Princess Peach. After Magikoopa informs her that these magic items will last until midnight, Yoshi-nderella goes to the Juliana's and enjoys the buffet. Two beutiful men, Mario and Luigi, notice her, but before they can approach her, Yoshi-nderella notices the time and run back to her home. They find one of her boots on the ground, but by picking it up, they pass out from the smell. Falling to the floor, their hat falls off, revealing crowns. Wendy and Birdo recognize the two as the princes of Mario Land. One thing leads to another, and Wendy married Mario and Birdo married Luigi, and together the two couples lived happily ever after.
The story is revealed to be a Mario Paint creation by Wendy and Birdo, but none of the viewers (Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Peach) are entertained by this adaptation.

Cameos and caricatures[edit]
Fictional characters[edit]
- Loch Ness Monster: the rumored monster of Lake Yoshi is depicted in the signage like Nessie in a blurry photo.
- Alice (Alice's Adventures in Wonderland): Alice and her playing card soldiers are a clear nod to Lewis Carroll's story. In the story, a girl named Alice ends up in a dreamy word where madness is commonplace and among the picturesque characters she encounters are anthropomorphic playing cards that serve the whimsical Queen of Hearts.
- Pinocchio (The Adventures of Pinocchio): the first part of "GO! GO! Mario Paint Theater!" is based upon the protagonist of Carlo Collodi's novel. A living marionette (called "puppet") who goes through a lot of misadventures on his transformative quest to become a real boy and reunite with his creator and father. His most distinctive trait, and focus of the section, is his iconic long nose that grows longer each lie Pinocchio tells.
- Cinderella: the second part is instead a parody of the original Charles Perrault's version. It follows the story of a girl living with her stepfamily, who view her more as a servant than a family member (although, contrary to typical depictions, they are not abusive), until her fairy godmother gifts her a fancy dress to attend the royal ball that will disappear at midnight. While trying not to breach the curfew, she loses a glass slipper, which the Prince, who has fallen in love with her, will use to search for her.
Real-life establishments[edit]
- Juliana's: in the Cinderella parody, the ball at the castle is replaced with a normal night at the local Juliana's, a famous disco founded in 1991. Interestingly, at the end of the month of this manga's publication, Juliana's disco would close its doors permanently.
Others[edit]
- Monster telepathy: as a note specifies, the big-nosed telepathy the Yosshīzaurusu have is a nod to the way monsters can detect a fellow friend is in trouble, shown in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla.
