Chapter 1[edit]

Chapter 1

だい事件じけん発生はつせい (A major incident occurs)

Life in the tiny farmhouse is not great: the shack is too small to guest four people, and they are broke to top it all off. Mario is not discouraged and suggests farming vegetables to sell at the market, claiming that by Autumn they will earn so much money to buy a mansion. As the guys begins to plow the land, Mario asks Princess Peach to get some seeds to plant. In the cabin, Peach finds a giant mouse grabbing the seed sack. Surprised by Peach's yell, the giant mouse swiftly flees with the bag. Mario and Luigi already think that Bowser is behind this theft, but Peach corrects them while Toad locates the culprit's footprints, and together they follow the trail into a dark cave. A mysterious figure insists they do not go any further, or they will enter Wart's domain.

The group is not scared, and in trying to chase for the figure, they plummet into a pit, finding themselves in a grassland with waterfalls, where they spot the thief, a giant rat in sunglasses named Mouser. As he eats the seeds and makes faces at the group, he flees to Mouse Mountain, spilling some seeds in his way. Luigi goes to pick them up, but much to his surprise, the seeds immediately sprout into fully grown vegetables. Seeing the world around them, they notice trees full of cherries, beautiful waterfalls, abundant presence of wood. As they take in consideration to move in this beautiful place, a bunch of hooded masked guys, the Shyguys and a Snifit, approach them to attack, armed with herbicidal fumes. One of the turnips speaks to Mario, telling him that the vegetables are the weakness of this world bad guys. In a matter of seconds, the Shyguys are defeated after the heroes overwhelm them with turnips.

After tying up one of the Shyguys, Mario demands it to take them to Mouse Mountain so they can proceed in chasing the thief. After climbing the tall mountain, Mouser is nowhere to be seen. The Shyguy explains that he must be in the clouds, that can be reached with a beanstalk. Having luckily taken a bean with him, Mario plants it and a giant beanstalk grows. The Shyguy also explains that they will find a gate, but its key is a Crystal Ball place in front of it. Tired out, Peach remains down, while Mario, Luigi, and Toad keep climbing. She soon changes her mind after getting startled by a Ninji, who just wanted to befriend her.

On the clouds, the heroes find themselves in front of a strange dinosaur calling herself "Birdo, the heaven queen". As they go past them, Toad finds the gate but not the Crystal Ball. Birdo claims to have swallowed it, and when Mario demands it, she spits an egg at him, which he dodges it. Mario orders his friends to throw veggies at her, but they have no effect on Birdo. When Luigi and Peach then start to talk on how to cook the egg Birdo spat, Mario kicks it in a fit of frustration and the egg bounces off a wall and into Birdo's belly, making her spit out the Crystal Ball. With that, the heroes access the gate and enter Mouser's room. After storing the seed bag into a jar, Mouser starts to throw bombs at them. In try to avoid them, a bomb bounce off Peach's behind and lands back in Mouser's hand, blowing him up. When he retries another throw, Mario, Luigi, and Toad start making silly faces. Amuzed, Mouser burst into laughing, realizing too late that he is still holding two lit bombs, exploding once again and knocking himself out. Toad goes to retrieve the stolen seeds, but a snake takes them and slithers away into a desert. Apparently, Mouser was not the mind behind this theft.

Chapter 2[edit]

Chapter 2

なぞ恐竜きょうりゅう キャサリン登場とうじょう (Mysterious Dinosaur: here comes Birdo)

While distracted, the Cobrat is telepathically instructed by his leader to bring him the seeds. Toad spots him and chase it to a group of jar, while checking the one the Cobrat entered, another Cobrat pops from another jar, then another, and finally all three of them disappear. Mario questions Mouser, but he feigns ignorance. Peach sports a trail of vegetables, leading to the distant pyramid. Bringing Mouser with them, the heroes cross the desert. Suddenly, the five of them start sinking in quicksand, but by jumping off Mouser, the heroes get to safety, while Mouser sinks to his demise. New enemies approaches: Beezos, Pokeys, and a Panser. Nervous, Peach chew on the cherries she picked, and suddenly she becomes invincible and defeats the hoard. Right after, a Star leaves her body, telling her that she became invincible due to the cherries she ate, prompting her to eat more.

Mario grabs a defeated Beezo and attempts to rip his masks off, but it does not seem to budge. The Beezo explains that this "Wart's domain" was once the dream world Subcon, until Wart, the nightmare king, arrived and cursed the inhabitants by putting magical masks onto them to force them to produce more nightmares. As the Beezos pleads Mario to break the curse, a Pidgit (the same figure that warned the heroes not to proceed into the cave) drops a POW Block from its magic carpet, making the Beezos fall into the quicksand. Mario and the others tug at the carpet, making the Pidgit fall in the quicksand as well. The heroes then uses the carpet to reach the pyramid. The pyramid's interior is just a small room, but Peach smells some cherries underground. Armed with a shovel, Mario digs into the sand and finds the cherry, while Peach digs in a crevice with mummies inside. The mummies are revealed to be Snifits and they shoot at the heroes, rising a cloud of smoke. As the smoke disperses, the Snifits retreat considering the job done, unaware that the heroes are standing on their heads.

Mario's Snifit passes by a door and, after reunited with the others, he walks in, finding Birdo again, while she is busy peeing in a corner while standing, confusing Peach and Mario about her gender. As Birdo keeps claiming to be the queen "Birdetta", Mario strangles "her" to spit out the Crystal Ball, which she eventually does. Luigi, playing the kindness card, and gently asks "Birdetta" about the snakes, and she points to a locked door, then points to the nearby key. Mario grabs it, but one of the masks that were exposed on the wall, a Phanto, starts to chase him. Slowed down by the key, Mario gets hit and falls to the ground unconscious, dropping the key and making the mask disappear. Continuing with the kindness startegy, Luigi asks "Birdetta" on how to cure his brother. She explains that they can use a buried Magical Potion to access the Sub-Space and get a Mushroom to give to him. The heroes follow the instructions and revive Mario, felling already more powerful. Over the door, another Mask Gate awaits, but Birdo betrays the heroes and swallows the Crystal Ball again. Tired of being nice to the "gay dinosaur", Luigi suggest throwing Birdo at the gate and it works: Birdo is defeated and the gate is now open.

On the other side, the heroes are met with a bird with googles, mistaking it for the boss, and start to kick it. Right after, the three Cobrats appear and ask for a help from Wart. A magic zap turns the three Cobrats in Tryclyde, a giant three-headed hydra. As Tryclyde spits fire at them, a pumpkin in the ground instructs Mario to use the nearby Mushroom Blocks as both a barrier and projectiles. Luigi then tries to throw a Mushroom Block, but is knocked out by the flames. Mario then comes up with a plan: making use of Peach's Floating Jump and using her as a parasol, they will drop on Tryclyde and strike him. The plan works, mostly thanks to one of the heads being distracted by something else, and Tryclyde explodes after each head is hit by a Mushroom Block. As Peach retrieves the seeds, she is snatched by a giant frog riding a magic carpet. After he presents himself as the nightmare king Wart, he flies off with Peach, while the heroes watches in shock.

Meanwhile, Birdo emerges, trying to get a taste of Luigi's kindness again, while he asks her to leave them alone.

Chapter 3[edit]

Chapter 3

最終さいしゅう決戦けっせん (The Final Battle)

Following the vegetable trail, Mario, Luigi, and Toad arrive to an ocean, but by disguising as Bob-ombs, the trio tricks some Albatosses to take them over to the other side. Meanwhile, at Wart's Castle, after firing his cook, the tyrant put Peach (who he keeps calling her "Mimu") behind the stoves. After a while, Peach returns with some food, but after tasting it, Wart pukes it, since they are made out of vegetables, which he detests with a burning passion. After punishing Peach by attaching a cursed Okame mask onto her face, Wart question where did she get the vegetables from, considering the theft of the seed was to prevent the plantation of green in the real world to then conquer it. His minion Clawgrip points out that the bag has a hole and they have been accidentally planted seeds throughout the whole Subcon. Upset, Wart orders his other minion Fryguy to burn every plant inside the palace. To escape the flames, the vegetables run to Peach and hide under her skirt. Meanwhile, Peach is revealed that she tricked the cursed mask to cover her back of the head, by covering her face with hairs and wearing the dress in the wrong direction.

After seemingly having dealt with the greens, Wart sends his soldiers against the Mario Brothers and Toad via a teleporting jar. Instead of being discouraged by the neverending hoard of enemies, Mario takes it as a proof that they are getting near. After an almost-lethal drop in a ravine, but the vegetable trail ends at the end of a cave, and due to the lack of sunlight, the vegetables are not ripened, so they cannot talk to them. Following a voice, Mario, Luigi, and Toad enter into Birdo's room once more. Mario demands to know where Wart's lair is, but Birdo refuse to answer to a question given with such rude tone, but Luigi is getting hives in trying to keep being sweet to her, so Mario pulls a trump card: a photo of Yoshi, claiming that if she helps them to defeat Wart, they will introduce her to a potential love interest. Birdo accepts (meanwhile, at his new bakery, Yoshi mysteriously shivers in ominous fear) and shows off a rocket to use to reach Wart's palace in the sky.

As they sprint into the castle, Clawgrip and Fryguy block their path. Luigi tells Mario that they will deal with them and that he should go to face Wart. Mario jumps over the two, distracting the crab that is taken by Luigi and tossed into a pot of water brought by Toad. Fryguy is shrunk into a small flame after Birdo pees on it, and is then used to boil the water in the pot, killing Clawgrip. Mario arrives in Wart's room, where he is ready to place a mask on his face, but claiming that his big nose will prevent the mask from being applied, he will have to melt it using his corrosive drool bubbles. While he jumps to avoid the bubbles, Peach appears on top of a tube in the room, telling him that Wart hates vegetables. Before he can do something about it, Mario is caught by Wart and shoved in his mouth. Instead of getting swallowed, Mario grabs Mario's jaw and forces it open, then tells Peach to dunk the greens inside. Peach raises her skirt and drops the vegetables in the frog's mouth.

Wart coughs Mario out and then explodes in green mush. Peach hugs Mario and, after questioning why he is bleeding from his nose, the mask attached to the back of her head detaches, and so do the Shyguys and Beezos' masks, finally freeing the Subcon fairies. Subcon is free from Wart's domain, the vegetables are retrieved, Birdo is now a good guy, but the small shack problem still remains.

カジノでギャンブル!! (Gambling at the casino!!)

Back in the Mushroom Kingdom, Mario, Luigi, and Toad are getting ready to have a picnic with princess Peach, but when they arrive at the castle, she informs them that she has some business to attend and leaves on her chariot, from which a flyer falls off: the so-called "business" is just a masquerade party at Casino USA. Beside being angry for being stood up, Luigi and Toad are also suspicious of the place and decide to attend. After procuring themselves a Tanooki Suit, a Frog Suit, and a Bowser costume, the trio enters the casino, full of people, most of which are members of the 8 bits. When Mario finally sees Peach, alongside Kinoppe, the presenter (Mouser) asks the participants to grab a partner to begin the ball event, and the girls are approached by two good-looking guys, saddening the trio. As Mouser invites the couples to the next room. Without a partner, the trio cannot proceed with the other guests, but of the remaining options, only Birdo and "her" "sisters" have remained, and only when Mario notices that also Wendy was left that he picks the lesser evil and invites the other to crossdress.

Meanwhile, while Mario and friends are still changing, in the venue, Mouser drops the guest into a trapdoor, leaving only Peach, Kinoppe, and their partner, who are revealed to be Wart and Tryclyde in disguise. After the 8 bits surrounds the girls, Wart declares that the masquerade was a trap to lure them, capture them, cook them, and eat them, as he loves the taste of peaches and mushrooms. Just then, Mario, Luigi, Toad (dressed up as Sailor Moon), and the Birdos (dressed up as gentlemen) enter and tell Wart to stop it. Wart counteroffers with a challenge: he will challenge each one of them at the casino games. If they win, the girls will be released, otherwise, the boys will be forced to marry the Birdos. After dropping the costumes, Mario accepts.

First off is Luigi and Wart at the slot-machines. Luigi manages to get some small wins, but Wart manages to one-up him by pairing cherries. Luigi slowly depelts all his coins, until Toad reminds him to remember how he did at the Spade Panel game. Doing so, Luigi keeps getting three cherries, and in a matter of minutes, Wart loses all his coins, even betting his crown, robe, pendant, and golden denture. Luigi wins the first round. The second round is a crane game by fishing the major number of guests from the trapdoor. Toad only manages to catch one, while Wart cheats his way to victory, with the aid of his Shyguys holding onto the caught guest. Wart wins the second round. The third round will decide the fate of the heroes: the roulette.

Mario bets on red, but while Wart starts up the wheel and throws the ball in, Toad notices that Wart's claw machine had a Bob-omb inside helping him, but Clawgrip shuts his mouth. Mario notices it and also notices that the ball is moving strangely: it is an egg, surely guided on the inside by someone (Birdo). So, Mario pulls out five ripened turnips and summons a Stop Watch. In the following seven seconds that the time freezes, Mario glues the ball-egg onto a red space and when time resumes, Wart is left speechless, while Mario and friends leave with the girls. The next day, the trio re-attempts to invite Peach and Kinoppe to a picnic, but they get distracted by two cute guys and chase after them, leaving the boys behind them.
