History[edit]

Super Mario series[edit]

Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic / Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]

Yume Kōjō: Doki Doki Panic marks the first appearance of "Final Boss BGM". When that game was later redeveloped as Super Mario Bros. 2, the theme was given slightly more enhanced instrumentation, which is the version that subsequent appearances of the theme in the Super Mario franchise are based on. The Super Mario Bros. 2 version is also included in the official albums FAMICOM 20TH ANNIVERSARY GAMEMUSIC DVD, Game Sound Museum: Mario Bros. / Super Mario USA, and Famicom Sound History Series: Mario the Music.

Super Mario All-Stars[edit]

In the SNES remake of Super Mario Bros. 2 in Super Mario All-Stars, Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World, and Super Mario All-Stars Limited Edition, an arrangement of "Final Boss BGM" plays for the same purpose as in the original game.
