This theme incorporates an arrangement of the first four bars of "World 1 Map (Grass Land)" from Super Mario Bros. 3 played on an accordion, and an arrangement of "Ground BGM" from Super Mario Bros. played on an aerophone.

“I knew I wanted to feature that famous Mario tune as the main melody for this track, since it plays in his house. Then I wondered if there was another melody I could include here that had that same Mario flair. Immediately, "World 1 Map (Grass Land)", the Grass Land theme from Super Mario Brothers 3[sic], was what came to mind.”

In the Nintendo Switch remake of Super Mario RPG, the original version of "Super Mario House" plays for the same purpose as in the original game if the music is set to the "Classic" setting. If the music is set to the "Modern" setting, a new orchestral arrangement of the theme will play instead. It is also included in the official albums Super Mario RPG Original Soundtrack, Super Mario RPG Original Sound Box, and Super Mario RPG Original Sound Vinyl Box.
