It is a Spanish-styled theme and prominently features a flute.

History[edit]

Super Mario Odyssey[edit]

Super Mario Odyssey marks the first appearance of "Tostarena Ruins". An 8-bit, chiptune-style version of the theme, titled "Tostarena Ruins - 8-Bit" on the Nintendo Music app and "Tostarena: Ruins (8-Bit)" in the Music List, plays when Mario is in a 2D section of Tostarena Ruins. "Tostarena Ruins" is also featured in the Super Mario Odyssey Sound Selection, while both tracks are also featured on the Super Mario Odyssey Original Soundtrack.

Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker[edit]

In the Nintendo Switch and Nintendo 3DS versions of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker, "Tostarena Ruins" is played during the Secret of the Inverted Pyramid level before the Pull Switch is activated.

Mario Kart World[edit]

In Mario Kart World, a Latin rock arrangement of "Tostarena Ruins" can play in Free Roam. This arrangement bears similarity to "Tequila", a Latin rock instrumental first recorded by The Champs in 1958.
