2D blocks[1] are blocks that appear in the Ruined Kingdom in Super Mario Odyssey. They appear only on the Roulette Tower, in areas on walls that Mario can access only while under the effects of an 8-bit pipe. 2D blocks quickly move from one position to the other in a loop. The positions of 2D blocks are indicated by a mark on the wall. These blocks disappear for a short period of time before changing their position. As long as they are in this state, they are intangible. Mario can stop a 2D block in place by pressing the P Switch associated with that 2D block, found outside the wall where the 2D blocks are. In this state, 2D blocks are tangible. Mario can make all stopped 2D blocks in one section start moving again by pressing a Ground-Pound Switch found alongside the P Switch(es), which also resets the P Switch(es). 2D blocks can have different speeds and sizes. They also come in three colors: red, blue, and green.
