The Art of Super Mario Odyssey is a collection of concept artwork that was released in Japan on September 28, 2018,[5] and in English-speaking countries on October 22, 2019.[6] The book contains information from the character designers and game developers about the characters and locales in Super Mario Odyssey. It is the second Super Mario book to be published in North America by Dark Horse Books, after the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia.[2] Screenshots and marketing materials are also included in the book.[2]

Unlike the Super Mario Bros. Encyclopedia, Dark Horse Comics outsourced translation work of the original book's text to TransPerfect. The book's layout mirrors that of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild – Creating a Champion.
