Nathaniel's Fun Factory
Nathaniel's Fun Factory is an eight-page book available for download from the official Nintendo 1999 Annual Report website. The book features original artwork of Mario, Donkey Kong, Yoshi, Pikachu, and Link.
Plotline[edit]
The book follows a young boy named Nathaniel, who lives in a house out in the desert. Despite the many things his mother does to entertain him, he is still bored. One night, he has a dream about a factory that takes all of the boredom in the world and converts it into fun. When he awakens in the morning, he builds the model of it and calls it his Fun Factory. The next night, he stares at the Factory as he falls asleep and then ends up having a dream where he is being carried by Donkey Kong. His interests change as the years pass, though the Factory continues to provide new adventures. Once he becomes older, Nathaniel moves from the desert into the city. After that, Nathaniel marries someone and has a daughter. It is around this time that he puts his Factory away. His daughter ends up rather bored, however, so Nathaniel brings his Fun Factory out of the closet and gives it to her. During the night, Nathaniel is unable to sleep. He then proceeds to borrow the Factory from his daughter and dream of being carried away by what appears to be a large fish with wings, described in the book as a "sleek, fast, and powerful creation."
