Super Mario Bros.: A Big Activity Book, also referred to as just Super Mario Bros., is a book published by Western Publishing in 1989 under the Little Golden Books label as part of the Super Mario Bros. series of coloring and activity books.[1] This book is based on Super Mario Bros. 2. The book also comes with a story titled "Super Mario Brothers in Down the Drain," which can be modified by drawing pictures in it, as well as the "Super Mario Brothers Award," which can be cut out and worn as a ribbon.

Another book in the series titled Super Mario Bros.: A Color/Activity Book is also based on Super Mario Bros. 2, though it also includes elements from the game Super Mario Bros.

"Super Mario Brothers in Down the Drain"[edit]

Mario and Luigi, armed with only their plumbing skills, set off to do a daring deed. While walking through some tunnels, Mario comments that it is cold and dark, with Luigi asking if they can go home now. The Mario Bros. come across some pipes and shrink themselves to crawl inside them. Meanwhile, a group of enemies plot to capture the Mario Bros. on the other side. Making their way past these enemies, the Mario Bros. travel through some more pipes towards Wart's bathtub. As they are about to enter the bathtub, Mario comments that he and Luigi will "splash cold water on his plans." The Mario Bros. enter the bathtub, surprising Wart as a Mouser, a Bob-omb, and a Pokey laugh at him. The story ends with the Mario Bros. wearing party hats to celebrate their victory.

Characters[edit]

Mario's dad and King Koopa are also mentioned, though they do not appear in the book proper.
