The Super Mario Bros. Movie Official Storybook is a hardcover picture book adaptation of The Super Mario Bros. Movie. The book was written by Michael Moccio and published by Random House on April 11, 2023.[1] The book is 32 pages long and closely follows the plot of the film with some differences.

Differences from the film[edit]

  • The book begins with an introduction of Bowser, who is described as someone who is obsessed with gaining power and plans to conquer kingdoms throughout the world. The book then cuts to the scene where he takes over the Snow Kingdom.
  • The scenes where Mario and Luigi fix the Brooklyn couple's house and when they eat dinner with their family have been cut.
  • The mysterious pipe is never mentioned by name. Instead, it is referred to as a "portal."
  • Every scene following the Kongs, Toad, Princess Peach, and Mario driving towards Rainbow Road has been cut, including the ending. Because of this, the book received negative reviews on online listings.[citation needed]
