Illumination Studios Paris (formerly Illumination Mac Guff) is a French-based animation studio branch that produces the Super Mario–franchise animated films and all Illumination films except the live-action film Hop, which featured CGI by Rhythm & Hues. Following the success of Illumination's first animated film, Despicable Me, the studio along with Universal Pictures bought out Mac Guff and split it into Illumination Mac Guff while the main studio still existed in Ligue, with their first feature being an adaptation of The Lorax.[1] After the release of the 2016 film Sing 2, the company changed its name to Illumination Studios Paris.
