History[edit]

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie[edit]

In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, the song plays when Yoshi is exploring Brooklyn after hatching and emerging from the sewers. The song promptly cuts off after he accidentally causes a fossil to collapse in the American Museum of Natural History.

Critical reception[edit]

The use of "Hypnotize" in The Super Mario Galaxy movie was received favorably in comparison to the licensed music featured in its predecessor, with James Grebby of Time magazine appreciating its brief appearance while claiming "Biggie Smalls' whole vibe doesn't fit within the Mushroom Kingdom, but it does fit, famously, in Brooklyn".[1]
