The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is an upcoming theatrical animated film. It is a direct sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie and is the fourth feature film in the Super Mario franchise. Like its predecessor, it is produced by Nintendo in collaboration with Universal Pictures and Illumination and co-produced by Super Mario franchise creator Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination co-founder Chris Meledandri. It was announced on March 10, 2024 (on MAR10 Day), and is set to be released on April 3, 2026 in the United States, with other release dates on April 2026 for other regions, and April 24, 2026 in Japan.[4] The title announcement trailer for the film was released as part of the September 2025 Nintendo Direct, in which the game's main theme was used as part of the music. The film has been described as the "main event" of the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary celebration.

In a press release article from NBCUniversal, the film was given the title "Super Mario World," though it was later removed.[7]

Later, the domain name "supermariogalaxy.movie" was registered by NBCUniversal on September 3, 2025.[8]
