Nestlé is a global food and drink company founded in 1866. Nestlé and the brands that it owns have done multiple cross-promotions with Nintendo that were themed after the Super Mario franchise.
Promotions[edit]
The first known promotion Nestlé ran involving the Super Mario franchise took place in Spain in 2019. The promotion involved the company's Extrafino brand of chocolate. If customers purchased a six-pack of this chocolate, they would receive a drawstring bag with a Super Mario design. There were six total designs available. Said designs featured Mario, Princess Peach, Luigi, Daisy, Yoshi, and Toad. Additionally, participants could register their purchase on the promotion's official website to be entered into a drawing for a Nintendo Switch and a copy of Super Mario Party. Ten winners were chosen.[2]
Four years later, Nestlé released a themed hot chocolate mug. The mug included a candy cane stirring stick, in addition to Nestlé-brand hot chocolate mix. A second mug was released the next year and featured a holiday-themed package, depicting Mario in a Santa Claus costume from Super Mario Odyssey. Both mugs feature artwork of various characters from the Super Mario franchise.
Three years later, Nestlé held two promotions to promote The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. One of these, which is called Bono + Negresco: Biscoitos de outra galáxia, consists of unique designs on the Bono and Negresco cookies. Said promotion is currently ongoing in Brazil. Additionally, Nestlé released themed packages of their Snow Flakes cereal themed after the film. In addition to the cereal, each package of the themed Snow Flakes comes with a cereal bowl themed after the film. Said bowl features promotional artwork for the movie frequently used in merchandise.[3]
