"Going for the Coins"[1] is a musical theme in Mario Party 2, where it plays in the minigames Shell Shocked, Hexagon Heat, Bowl Over, and Hot Bob-omb. In Hexagon Heat, the theme speeds up as the minigame continues. Contrary to the name, it does not play in any coin-collecting minigames.

Mario Party 2 marks the first appearance of "Going for the Coins".

Mario Party: The Top 100[edit]

In Mario Party: The Top 100, an arrangement of "Going for the Coins" plays in Shell Shocked and Hexagon Heat. It is erroneously titled "Take the Coin" in the game's sound test, which is the name of the theme that plays in the results screen for Battle minigames in Mario Party 2. In Hexagon Heat, unlike the original theme, this arrangement does not speed up as the minigame continues.

In Super Mario Party, a chiptune arrangement of "Going for the Coins" plays in Shell Shocked Deluxe.

Mario Party Superstars[edit]

In Mario Party Superstars, an arrangement of "Going for the Coins" plays in Shell Shocked (now named Tread Carefully). As with Mario Party: The Top 100, it is titled "Take the Coin" in the game's sound test.
