Super Mario Cereal is a Super Mario–themed, mixed berry- and marshmallow-flavored breakfast cereal produced by Kellogg's. It was first released on December 11, 2017.[1] It was created to promote the release of Super Mario Odyssey, and it was sold at select retailers such as Walmart, Albertsons, and Safeway. The box is an amiibo accessory, as the back has an NFC tag compatible with Super Mario Odyssey, although this feature was removed in early 2018.[2] The marshmallows are featured in the shape of either a Mushroom, a 1-Up Mushroom, or a ? Block.
Preliminary packaging for the cereal features a background of the Mushroom Kingdom instead of the Super Mario Odyssey world atlas and depicts Mario wearing his usual cap instead of Cappy.[3]
