Fit's is a Japanese brand of gum produced by Lotte Group and introduced in March 2009.[1] It is available in a variety of flavors including Grape Mix and Original Mint, with each pack containing 12 pieces of gum, and had sold over 30 million packs in its first four months on the Japanese gum market.[2] For the 30th anniversary of Super Mario Bros., the brand partnered with Nintendo for two tie-in flavors.

Super Mario Bros. 30th AnniversaryEdit

The two 30th anniversary-themed flavors were themed after Mario and Luigi. Both use the same packaging of a black background with a yellow pattern of Super Mario items and the character's face next to a circle matching their color. The sticks of gum are individually wrapped in yellow paper with sprites from the original Super Mario Bros., which is also the source of the interior art, which is a screenshot of the title screen, but with a hue matching the character color's. The gum went on sale beginning May 12, 2015, and cost ¥130 (about US$1.09) each.[3] Both flavors are described by import site jbox.com as "perhaps the official taste" of their respective power-ups.[4]

Mario's Invincibility StarEdit

Mario's gum, named "Mario's Invincibility Star," has a ginger ale flavor with a pattern of Super Stars on the packaging's exterior. Its flavor was intended to evoke the excitement of collecting a Super Star,[3] and was inspired by the "sparkling pop" of the power-up and the image of an "energetic" Invincible Mario.[5] It has a strong ginger smell but a long-lasting sweet taste.[6][7]

Luigi's Infinite UPEdit

Luigi's gum, named "Luigi's Infinite UP," has a melon soda flavor with a pattern of Koopa Shells on the packaging's exterior, a reference to the infinite 1-Up trick in Super Mario Bros. Its creation was inspired by the green colors of Luigi, Koopa Troopas, and 1-Up Mushrooms and the "exciting fun" of gaining infinite lives.[5] It has a sweeter smell, but a similarly long-lasting taste.[7]
