Blimp Fruits are a special type of fruit appearing exclusively in Super Mario Galaxy 2, resembling light blue Berries with a small stem. Along with the Dash Pepper and the Bulb Berry, only Yoshi is able to consume this item. When Yoshi consumes the fruit, he changes from green to light blue and swells (taking the form of Blimp Yoshi), similar to the Balloon Mario power-up.

Blimp Yoshi can propel himself upward by exhaling the air inside him or hover in the same place. Like Bee Mario, a meter appears to show how long Yoshi can stay afloat. Once the meter empties, Yoshi reverts back to normal. Blimp Fruits play a key role in the Tall Trunk Galaxy, and are also found in the Starshine Beach and Flash Black galaxies, as well as in an area near the end of Bowser's Galaxy Generator.

  • North American website bio:[1] "When eaten, this rare fruit sends Yoshi into the sky like a hot air balloon. Mario can ride big blue Blimp Yoshi all the way up, but even tasty power-ups like this lose their air after a short while."
