The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Collectible Cards are a series of collectible digital cards available via The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Movie Portal on the Nintendo Today! app starting on March 10, 2026. They were announced during The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Direct on March 9. As the Super Mario Bros. 40th Anniversary celebration is currently ongoing, 40 different cards are available to collect in total.

Each card is based on a character or object from The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, displaying artwork of the subject as it appears in the film. Selecting a card additionally displays a description of the subject along with a selection of "Featured Game Titles", with each game displaying a short gameplay clip featuring the subject, a general description of the game, and the user's age at the time of the game's release if they were alive when that game released (aside from "About THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE", which instead features the film's final trailer and a synopsis of the film's story). The "About THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE" and "Mario" cards are obtained upon first opening the Collectible Cards section of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Movie Portal, with the user then being able to obtain a new randomly-selected card on each following day upon opening the Nintendo Today! app. The pool of cards which could be selected was initially limited to just ten, with additional cards being made obtainable on subsequent weeks.[1] It was initially stated that users would be able to collect new cards until June 10, 2026, but this was later extended to August 31, 2026.[2] Users will continue to be able to view the cards they have collected afterwards.[3] They will also earn 100 My Nintendo Platinum Points for acquiring three cards until May 31.[4] After the user has collected all 40 cards, the cards will transform into variants with golden borders known as "Gold Cards". Gold Cards display more content such as an expanded version of the card's artwork, a screenshot of a scene from the movie in which the subject appears, and a message from the character's voice actor where applicable. With the exception of "About THE SUPER MARIO GALAXY MOVIE", cards are categorized as either "Mains", "Villains", or "Misc".

A pack containing physical versions of the "Mario", "Luigi", "Peach", "Rosalina", and "Yoshi" cards was given at Japanese theaters showing the film.[5][6]

Notable mistakes and errors[edit]

Card of the Warp Pipe from the Italian version
The Warp Pipe's Italian card erroneously presenting the Dutch name
  • Goomba's "movie appearance" image shows a Mini Goomba instead of a regular one.
  • Jack Black's video message has him reminiscing about the original Donkey Kong arcade game and claiming that "back then there were only Mario, Donkey Kong... and Princess Peach". However, Princess Peach did not exist until Super Mario Bros., and the damsel in distress in that game was instead Pauline, or "Lady", as she was known back then.
  • In the Traditional Chinese version:
    • Tostarenan's name is written as 阿熾尼亞 (Mandarin Āchìníyǎ / Cantonese Achinèih'a), the Traditional Chinese name of Tostarena, instead of 阿熾尼亞人 (Āchìníyǎ Rén / Achinèih'a Yàhn).
  • In the Italian version:
    • "Back to Home Page" was translated in Portuguese (Início da página). It was later fixed.
    • On the second day after the portal went public, the Warp Pipe's name was in Dutch (Buis). It was fixed in the third day (Tubo teletrasporto).
    • In the description of Peach's Castle, Toad Town is left untranslated instead of being called Fungopoli.
  • In the Brazilian Portuguese version:
    • "Back to Home Page" was translated in Italian (Home del portale). It was later fixed.
    • The card for Gateway Galaxy (known as Galáxia do Portal Celeste in Portuguese) used the name of Gusty Garden Galaxy (Galáxia Brisa Botânica) in its name and description.[7] This was later fixed.[8]
    • The card for Tostarenan leaves Tostarena Town untranslated rather than being translated to Vila Tostarena.
