Made in Wario Staff Special Zadankai is a transcript of a mock interview published on the official Japanese website for WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! The interview focuses on both the game's microgames and the staff of WarioWare, Inc.'s reasons for making their sets of microgames.

Interview[edit]

"WarioWare" has been creating a huge buzz since its release. We spoke to the staff at Wario Company, the developer, about the game.
─── What made you decide to develop this game, Wario?
Wario (picking his nose) Hmm, that's true.
I heard you can make money making games, and I didn't have anything else to do.
─── So what motivated each of you employees to participate in the development?
Jimmy
I wanted money to learn dance in the country!
Nine Volt
I wanted to buy a lot of game software!
Mona
I wanted money to go on an adventure.
Dribble
I want to be independent, but I don't have enough money.
Crygor
Research costs money.
Orbulon
I am preparing to conquer Earth.
Kat
Kindergarten education costs quite a bit.
─── In the end it all comes down to money.
Spitz
It was a bit daunting at first, but halfway through everyone seemed to enjoy making it.
Mona
It was so much fun coming up with new games. "Hana-mizu" is based on a friend of mine. She gave a moving speech at a good luck party to celebrate her studying abroad, and the only thing that really stood out was the shining light from her runny nose. So even now, when I play "Hana-mizu," the feelings I had at that time come back to me.
Orbulon
It's a story that will warm your heart.
Mona
Since I was really emotionally attached to it, I paid a lot of attention to how the snot dripped.
To everyone who played it, I hope my feelings came through.
─── Are there any other improvements you made?
Crygor
In "Strawberry Cake," I had a hard time recreating the way the cake crumbles when strawberries are placed on the edge.
Nine Volt
A lot of Crygor's games are about food.
Crygor
That's right.
I came up with "Bean Skip" when I wanted to go to a beer garden,
"Banana" when I saw monkeys eating,
"Harisenbon" when I wanted to eat pufferfish,
"Apple" when I was worried about my periodontal disease,
"Steak" when I wanted to eat meat, and "Vegetable Slot" when I wasn't getting enough vegetables.
I ate too much while making the game and had to go to the toilet the whole time.
Ana
That's why the stage was called "Benki."
Jimmy
Speaking of stages, is the "space rabbit" that appears on Orbulon's stage a friend of yours?
Orbulon
To protect peace in the universe, the rabbits fly around every day.
Sometimes, they get help.

Dribble

In my "Space Planet" there is a space rabbit's spaceship. Did you notice?
Kat
Wow! That's right.
I hadn't noticed that.
Jimmy
So, did you know that in the game I made called "Archery," the sound effects change depending on where the arrow hits?
Ana
I didn't know that either.
Mona
This is about my stage, but there's a game I don't remember making.
It's called "Big Foot."
Ana
I also played a game called "Kujira Watari" before I knew it, but was it made by your sister?
Kat
I don't know either.
Orbulon
I haven't made a game called "Ushirosugata" either.
Nine Volt
Sorry! Actually, it seems my pet Shaggy made it without my permission. Shaggy appears in all the games out there, right? He's such an attention-seeker.
Spitz
Speaking of eye-catching, Jimmy's afro really stands out, and he even shows off three colors in the game.
Nine Volt
That's right!
Why does Jimmy appear three times?
That's not fair.
Jimmy
I think there are a lot of people who want to see my dance!
I did a different dance each time!
I actually want to show more!
Nine Volt
What I'd especially like you to see are the old toys that Nintendo made.
Ultra Hand was the first toy that Nintendo made other than playing cards or Hanafuda cards. Other old games like Dustley and Ultra Machine didn't work properly even in my collection , so I had a hard time recreating them in mini games.
Dribble
Hmm.
So there was a story behind it.
Kat
Listen to my story too! There's a song playing on our stage, right? My mother heard that story from her father. Long ago, the two of them were separated soon after their children were born, and lived separate lives, but something happened that led to a happy reunion.
Ana
That's right.
The details are written on a scroll and kept in the dresser of my father's house.
─── I see.
I'd love to hear more, but you can't talk about all 200 games (laughs), so Wario, could you say a few words to wrap things up?
Kat
Oh? By the way, what about Wario?
Crygor
He's disappeared without a trace.
Knowing him, he must be in the bathroom or something.
─── That's right.
So, thank you all for joining us today.
Wario
(Comes into the room) What's my game...
? Is it over already?
Mona
Wario-san, you're late!
Wario
Mukii!!
