Mona no Mona Nikki

Mona no Mona Nikki is an online diary allegedly maintained by Mona that is available from the official Japanese WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! website. Like the other diaries, the diary was active over the course of two months, beginning February 28, 2003, and ending on April 25 that same year, with a hiatus being taken between March 20 and April 15.

Part 1

• February 28 (Friday)

Since I've made a homepage, I've decided to start writing in my diary today.

I love Fridays!

Because I have the next day off.

But on my days off, I have a part-time job at a gelato shop from the morning.

So, I'm going to Kat-chan and Ana-chan's house to hang out!

I wonder if I can learn ninjutsu for self-defense.

• Saturday, March 1st

I started my morning job at a gelato shop.

But my scooter was acting up so I was almost late, and I got chased by a police car, so it was a tough time. Luckily I managed to make it on time!

While I was at work, I was approached by a strange yellow, square customer.

He looked small and childlike, but he spoke like an older man, which was funny.

• March 2 (Sun)

There was a gaming tournament at Ninevolt's house today.

I heard they were going to play a game called "Yoshi's Cookie," so I practiced by making nose-shaped cookies, but it didn't help at all. The cookies were pretty popular, though.

Oh, and it turns out that the strange yellow, square customer from yesterday is Ninevolt's pet!

His name is "Shaggy." Apparently he's only one year old, but he didn't look it at all.

• Monday, March 3rd

I overslept a little this morning and was afraid I'd be late for school.

But a speed camera chased me and all the other cars moved out of the way, so I was safe just in time!

I have to thank the police for that today.

• Today, I met Orbulon ojisama on the way home from school.

When I told him about school, he listened with great interest, but I wonder if he's actually been to school.

Orbulon ojisama is charming in that he has pale skin and a slightly frail appearance, but he doesn't have a nose. It's a shame he can't do

nose readings!

• Wednesday, March 5th

I got an email from Jimmy ojisama on my cell phone today.

I was surprised because I hadn't given him my email address yet. Apparently Kat had told him.

Jimmy ojisama's email came with a ringtone, which is really cool!

But I haven't written him a reply yet.

I'm going to write him a thank you email now.

• March 6th (Thursday)

I traded Pokémon with Ninevolt.

The monsters I got were all super strong, but their names were things like "Rabutesuta" and "Tenbirio," which aren't very cute...

• March 7th (Friday)

I got a sudden call from Wario's uncle, saying that everyone is gathering tomorrow at "Koe no Tayorau Namima made." for a barbecue.

So I asked the manager of the gelato shop to move my part-time job from tomorrow to today. It was warm today, so there were more customers than usual, and I wasn't even supposed to be working there anyway, so I'm really tired.

But it's for the barbecue, so it can't be helped. Ah, I'm really looking forward to it.

• Saturday, March 8th

The weather was beautiful today, perfect for a barbecue.

I brought gelato, but it probably wasn't very suitable for the barbecue. It melted into juice.

I was so busy eating that I didn't have time to look at the others, but it seems like Wario ate a lot. Everyone was grumbling.

In the evening, Jimmy gave us a professional dance performance. It was so impressive and cool! Maybe I should learn to dance too.

It was a really satisfying day!

• March 9th (Sun)

I woke up cold this morning.

I guess it's not camping season yet. I feel like I have a cold, and my throat hurts. My lucky item this week is a runny nose, so I wish it was just a cold.

A few other people were sick, but Wario's symptoms were the worst. He looked like a completely different person. I wonder what illness he had?

• March 10th (Monday)

I had a part-time job at a gelato shop this afternoon.

But it was raining so there weren't many customers. My throat was still sore and my voice was hoarse, so the manager was worried and I ended up leaving early.

I'm sorry, manager. I'll get some rest and work hard tomorrow!

• March 11 (Tuesday)

My throat feels a lot better now, but my voice is still a little hoarse.

But I really like this husky voice.

It makes me feel like I'm a different person than usual.

• Wednesday, March 12th

My voice is back to normal. Too bad.

I was working part-time today, but there was a lot of commotion outside.

Apparently there was a strange smell nearby.

It was near Wario ojisama's house, but I wonder if it's okay.

Come to think of it, there was a really nice, pungent smell coming from that direction...

• March 13th (Thursday)

Today, Wario-san came to the gelato shop, which is unusual.

He ordered a mountain of gelato, but left without paying.

The manager was angry, so I couldn't bring myself to tell him that I knew him...

I'm sorry, Wario-san.

• March 14th (Friday)

It was warm today, so I walked to school for the first time in a while.

On the way, something suddenly jumped out at my feet, and I instinctively kicked it.

When I looked closely, I saw that it was a cute toad.

It must have woken up from hibernation. I guess that means spring is slowly approaching.

• Saturday, March 15th

My dad is an artist.

He's going to exhibit a sculpture at an upcoming exhibition, and he's looking for a model.

When he asked me if I knew any men with nice noses, I immediately recommended Wario ojisama.

But I wonder if he'd be willing to model for me?

• March 16th (Sunday)

Apparently my dad met Wario ojisama today.

He said, "That nose is the best, the color and the shape!"

He praised me so much, it made me happy too. I can't wait to see what kind of work it will turn out to be.

• Monday, March 17th

My mom is a supermodel.

She's always flying around the world for photo shoots and fashion shows, so she's hardly ever home, but today she came back for the first time in a while!

She's leaving again tomorrow, so we talked about all sorts of things!

It seems like my mom reads this diary every day. It's a little embarrassing, but I'm happy!

• March 18 (Tuesday)

Starting today, I'll be saying goodbye to my mom for a while.

When I said goodbye, she gave me a souvenir earthworm scarf.

I'm really happy about it, but it's getting warmer, so I think I'll wear it next winter.

By the way, I got an email from Jimmy. He said he wanted my older sister's email address. But I'm an only child.

• Wednesday, March 19th

Kat and Anna finally taught me the ninjutsu I'd been wanting to learn.

Ninjutsu is so much fun!

I especially liked the "Invisibility Technique" because it seems like it would be useful for catching bugs.

I also got a scroll that says "Iga-ryu Master's License," so I'd like to try it again.

• March 20th (Thursday)

This is all very sudden, but I'm going to space with Wario ojisama and his friends starting today.

Wario ojisama says it's a company trip, but I'm sure the real reason is to search for treasure on an unknown planet.

My treasure hunter blood is starting to boil.

I won't be able to update my diary for a while, but I plan to come back with some souvenirs, so please wait for me!

Part 2

• April 15th (Tuesday)

This is terrible!

I was really looking forward to this space trip, but the spaceship broke down and we had to come back right away.

On top of that, three weeks have passed on Earth!

What was it called, the "Urashima phenomenon"?

Spring break is already over, so I'm kind of frustrated.

• Wednesday, April 16th

My friends at school asked me about my space travel experiences, and I got in trouble.

Because in the end, I didn't do anything.

So I made up all sorts of stories, like about being attacked by the monster Hanamogera.

I'll have to get everyone to cover it up later.

• April 17th (Thursday)

When I went to work, I was surprised to see so many customers lined up. Apparently, our gelato shop was featured on a morning TV show.

I wish I could have been on it too.

I also wanted to promote "WarioWare."

• April 18th (Friday)

When I went to work, the shop was deserted, like yesterday's excitement was a lie.

The boom is so short-lived.

I ended up giving today's customers more gelato than usual.

• Saturday, April 19th

I overslept and was going to be late for my part-time job, so I sped up on my bike and got caught by the police. My Mona's wouldn't come out.

So I had to pay a fine and missed my part-time job, so it was a disaster.

When I looked at my Mona bike later, it seemed to have run out of bananas.

Thinking about it, maybe it was all my fault for oversleeping, speeding, and forgetting to refill the bananas.

I'm so sorry.

• April 20th (Sunday)

Jimmy came to the gelato shop today, which was unusual.

But he didn't come to get gelato; he brought a printout of an email he'd received at Wario Company.

I knew they were recruiting on their website, so I wanted to read it. I wonder what the reviews for "WarioWare" were like.

I wanted to read it quickly, so I left work early.

• April 21st (Monday)

I was reading everyone's emails until late last night.

So many people wrote to me saying they loved the game I made, and it made me so happy!

At first, I only started making games as a part-time job, but when I see reactions like this, I think, "I'm glad I made it!"

Thank you so much to everyone who wrote to me!

• April 22 (Tuesday)

I went to Club Sato today. It was my first time, so I was a little worried about whether I'd be able to dance, but it turns out that just moving along to the music is pretty cool.

But Jimmy's dancing was really cool! It's like a pro.

Also, Mr. Yohitomi's dancing was unique, and I was a little drawn to it.

• Wednesday, April 23rd

I finally bought a Game Boy Advance SP.

I've never owned a game console before, so I'm so happy!

It's simple in design, so I think I can have fun by sticking all sorts of stickers on it.

But I still don't have any games.

I wonder if Wario ojisama will give me the "WarioWare" game.

• April 24th (Thursday)

Today, I had a round-table discussion with the people who made "WarioWare." I haven't had a chance to talk about the game since it was completed, so it was fun!

There were a lot of tricks I didn't know about in the games other people made, and it really made me realize how ingenious everyone is.

I heard that today's discussion will be published on the website, so I wonder what it will be like.

• April 25th (Friday)

In today's morning paper, there was a news article about the discovery of ruins of the Diamond Civilization, known as the Golden City. It's been a whilesince I've read something like that, so I got really excited.

I assumed that Wario ojisama would be going out on a treasure hunt, and sure enough, I spotted him setting off on his motorcycle, adventure-style!

Of course, I'm going to follow him!

So, today will be my last diary entry.
