Paper Mario Treasure Hunt was an interactive promotion on the official Fox Kids website. The promotion began toward the start of 2001, and was part of a cross-promotion between Fox Kids and Nintendo that was themed after Paper Mario. The promotion also involved a contest; two grand-prize winners received a Nintendo 64 and a copy of Paper Mario, while six runners-up won only the latter prize. The competition began on January 19, 2001 and ended on March 26, 2001.[2]
Details[edit]
Players were to find Paper Mario and his party throughout the Fox Kids website. Clicking on Mario and his party would bring up a clue. After the player had found all five clues, they were to input them in a series of boxes on the "prizes" subpage.[3] Players were to also provide their first name and their email address. They also had the option to add their gender and their age. The promotion's main page also featured a quiz question, which asked what term can be used to describe the dimension the worlds that Mario and his party "visit". The question provides 1D, 2D, 3D, and 4D as options, with the correct choice being the third. The promotion also featured Adobe Flash–based e-cards;[4] players were to add the first name of the person they were sending the card to, their own first name, and the email address of the person they were sending the card to. They were also able to select one of three descriptions for their cards; "I found Paper Mario™ & his friends - dare you to try!", "You can win great Nintendo® prizes on FoxKids.com.", and "There's a cool Paper Mario™ Treasure Hunt on FoxKids.com." None of the cards have been archived.
