Big Rare Xmas Tat Giveaway
The Big Rare Xmas Tat Giveaway (also referred to as the Big Rare Xmas Tat Bonanza[1]) was a contest held on the official Rare website in 1998. If one won the contest, they would receive merchandise themed after various games released by Rare, one of which was Diddy Kong Racing. To participate in the contest, one seems to have had to mail in answers to a series of trivia questions about Rare games, many of which were part of the Donkey Kong franchise. The contest's deadline was January 31, 1999.[1] The participants with the highest scores got to choose which merchandise they wanted first. The webpage states that, if there are more people with "perfect scores" than there are prizes, the participants who submitted their answers earliest will be allowed to pick their preferred merchandise first. The site also states that, if more prizes remain after those with high scores have picked their merchandise, those with the next best scores will get to pick next.
