Super Mario-san is a fictitious manga series intended to be a "revamped" version of Super Mario-kun. The manga was teased in 2019 as part of an April Fool's prank on the official CoroCoro Comic website alongside multiple other manga series, all of which were set to "debut" in the fictitious KiraCoro Comic magazine. Like the other series teased during the prank, Super Mario-san was intended to be a "cuter" version of Super Mario-kun. A four-panel preview comic sharing the name of the series was published on the CoroCoro Comic website.
Comic synopsis[edit]
Yoshi tells Luigi that Mario has "become cute". Luigi is shocked by this information, and asks Mario to show him. Mario grins, stating that this expression should qualify as "cute". Luigi disagrees, and then asks Mario to truly "become cute". Yukio Sawada then speaks, and then redraws Mario to appear "cuter". This involves stylizing the "M" on Mario's cap and accentuating his eyebrows and mustache, as well as adding more detail to his eyes. Mario likes his new look, while Luigi panics and requests that Mario be redrawn.
