Ganbare Super Mario is a short story series written and illustrated by Yukio Sawada. It was published in the kindergarten-aimed magazine Yōchien (幼稚園) published by Shogakukan from April to July 1987.

May's storyEdit
To celebrate Children's Day, Mario, Princess Peach, and Toad go to fly a Koinobori. Mario hits a ? Block, from which a Beanstalk emerges, and they tie the Koinobori to it. Two Koopa Paratroopas steal it and fly in the sky. Mario chases them by riding a Bullet Bill. After navigating through a cloud maze filled with Lakitu, Mario dismount the Bullet Bill and kicks it against the Koopas, blowing them up. Unfortunately, the Koinobori follows the same fate as them. To fix it, Mario ties the Paratroopas to the vine and attaches the Koinobori's tail to them. Bowser also arrives, and calls the Koinobori ugly.
