"Super Mario Odyssey Scavenger Hunt: Can You Find All The Goombas?" is the first episode of Scavenger Hunts for Kids on Play Nintendo's YouTube channel.
Plot synopsis[edit]
The video starts with a preview of Jordan talking about the amount of Goombas are in Super Mario Odyssey and that she is on a mission to find her favorites. After expressing her thoughts on the Goombas and telling the viewer to not tell anyone she called them cute, she says she has completed the game and created a list of 9 Goombas to find, including a "bonus Goomba" they will see later in the game. Jordan then claims Super Mario Odyssey is a huge game and will need help from not only the viewer, but also her mom. The latter of which said she used to play Mario games when she was little. Jordan tells her mother that she and the viewer are going on a Goomba scavenger hunt, but the mother questions how that is possible, since she thinks there is only one type of Goomba. Jordan exclaims that a lot has changed since she was a child, and that now there are more types of Goombas. Jordan then tells her mother how to play as Cappy as Jordan will be playing as Mario.
The first kingdom they go to is the Cascade Kingdom. Jordan comments how the kingdom looks peaceful, unlike when she and her mother went camping and the wind nearly blew their tents over. Her mother states that they will check the weather next time they do decide to go camping. They continue through the kingdom until they find the T. rex, which Jordan's mother is surprised to see. She asks Jordan if the dinosaur would eat Mario, to which Jordan states that they should throw Cappy on it. Now that Mario is a dinosaur, Jordan says that people think dinosaurs are extinct, even though they are not in this game. They reach the wall of the 2D area, where they spot the first Goomba on the list: an 8-bit Goomba. Jordan's mother recognizes the Goomba, saying they looked like that when she was a kid, to which Jordan responds that they are "very old school." Jordan's mother tells her daughter that she should make more scavenger hunts. Jordan says she probably will if people subscribed to the Play Nintendo channel.
The second kingdom they go to is the Sand Kingdom. Jordan states she loves how colorful Tostarena Town looks, and her mother suggests they go somewhere similar to this for their next vacation. Jordan's mother says the people in the kingdom seem to like wearing hats, and suggests the possibility that the Goombas might be wearing one of those. Jordan thinks the Goombas here wear a sombrero and tells her mother to find a "mean looking dude with a cool looking hat." After searching for a while, Jordan decides to go to the Tostarena Ruins as there are typically enemies there. This is when Jordan's mother finds the second Goomba on the list: the Sombrero Goomba. Jordan then wonders if there are bonus Goombas in the Sand Kingdom. When her mother questions what those are, Jordan disregards the question and head towards the Cloud Kingdom.
In the Cloud Kingdom, Jordan's mother begins to feel tired as she thinks the kingdom looks like a dreamland. Jordan encourages her mother to stay awake as they need to find Goombas. After searching for a while, Jordan's mother suggests the Goombas might look like little clouds, but they were not able to find any, so they leave the kingdom and Jordan suggests they go somewhere snowy.
They then go to the Snow Kingdom, where Jordan claims she feels chilly, and that she should have expected that. Jordan's mother then says she hopes the Goombas in this kingdom grabbed their winter coats before they left their homes. After searching for a while, and getting blown off a bridge by a "giant cloud," Jordan decides to go to Shiveria Town, where her mother hopes that this kingdom's outcome is not the same as the cloud kingdom. They then enter the Icicle Cavern where they find the third Goomba on their list: the Santa Goomba. After Jordan's mother makes a joke that the Goombas will end up on the "grumpy list," Jordan claims she, the viewer, and her mother are becoming Goomba spotting experts.
They then enter the Seaside Kingdom, where Jordan's mother is relieved after being in the Snow Kingdom, abd suggests they relax for a little while. Jordan is against this and tells her mother that they are on a mission. They go underwater and capture a Cheep Cheep, which they use to dive deeper into the water. After avoiding some Komboos, Jordan's mother thinks that Goombas are not very good swimmers, which prompts them to go back to the surface, where they find the fourth Goomba on their list: the Pirate Goomba. Jordan then suggests that they should leave before the Goombas steal their "booty."
Jordan decides to go to the Wooded Kingdom next because it is "cool, but wild." Jordan also states that he wishes his garden looked like this, to which Jordan's mother responds by saying their garden is wild, and that she is not the one that looks after it, even though Jordan says she helped. During this conversation, they enter the Deep Woods. Jordan says she, the viewer, and her mother should ignore the dark before encountering another T. rex. Jordan determines that there are no Goombas in the woods, and grabs a vine to get back to the Steam Gardens. Their they find two more Goombas on their list: the Explorer Goomba and Goomba Tower. Jordan tells her mother to throw Cappy onto one of the Goomba Towers, which captures them. They jump on more Goombas to make a taller Goomba Tower. They then find Goombette, another Goomba on their list. Jordan then counts all the Goombas they have found, including the bonus Goomba, which is revealed to be Cappy Goomba.
The final kingdom they visit is the Lake Kingdom, where Jordan's mother wonders if they are going to capture another Cheep Cheep. Jordan tells her mother to give Cheep Cheep Mario a break, and that she thinks it is cool. They then encounter multiple Lochladies, which her mother confuses for mermaids. Jordan corrects her and says that Lochladies are real, but only in this game. Jordan then tells her mom she wishes to have a hair color similar to the Lochladies, and her mother suggests that she gives Jordan a wig. They then start thinking about what the Goomba would look like, with Jordan pointing towards the idea that the Lake Kingdom is known for their wedding dresses, and that Goombas here could be fashionable. They remember that Goombas can not swim, so they go on land, where they find the last Goomba on their list: the Bridal Goomba. Jordan's mother than jokes that the Goombas "special day" was ruined. Jordan and her mother then celebrate their completion of the scavenger hunt. They then count all the Goombas, and Jordan thanks the viewer for helping her. Jordan then wonders what Goombas they could find in other games, with footage of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury and Paper Mario: The Origami King being shown as Jordan tells the viewer to look forward to more episodes being released in the future. Jordan then says bye to the viewer.

Pirates and Explorers and Goombette, oh my! Jordan's created a scavenger hunt through the Super Mario Odyssey game to find eight unique Goombas. This time, they’re joined by a very special guest, their mom! Join them as they explore loads of fun Kingdoms and find cute, grumpy Goombas.
Notable mistakes and errors[edit]
- When going to the Cascade Kingdom, Jordan calls the kingdom the "Cascade Falls." The text that appears on the screen when they enter the kingdom reflects this.
- When the text appears for Pirate Goomba, the word "pirate" is not capitalized. The same thing occurs with Explorer Goomba and Bridal Goomba, with "explorer" and "bridal" not being capitalized respectively.
