"Special Report!" is a video released on Play Nintendo's YouTube channel to promote upcoming episodes of The Play Nintendo Show as well as the My Nintendo program.

Plot synopsis[edit]

In the format of a news broadcast, Andrew Trego teases news reports to happen after the one they are about to present, mentioning Toads scrambling in the Mushroom Kingdom and Bowser being allergic to pancakes. Andrew and Jenna then introduce themselves and ask the viewer if they like free game demos, earning points and redeeming them for discounts, in-app items, and exclusive digital games, the latter of which causes Andrew's eyes to glow. Jenna states if the viewer likes all of these, their report will be just for them. But first, Andrew tries to make a report on monkeys taking over the world with ice cream, and he tries to offer ice cream to Jenna, which she rejects. Jenna then says now is a good time to make a Nintendo account and link it to their Nintendo Network. This confuses Andrew, causing him to tell Jenna she lost him. Andrew then teases another news report, questioning if he would be found, and that more information will be revealed at 11:00. Jenna understands why Andrew is confused, and says it the viewer visits play.nintendo.com/nnid, they will get a walkthrough on how to set it up and gain access to their My Nintendo reward program. After explaining how it works, mentioning they can get points by gaining coins in Super Mario Run, games that are free with the service are mentioned, including Stretchmo, Pokémon Rumble World, Pokémon Shuffle, Mini Mario & Friends: amiibo Challenge, and Swapdoodle. Swapdoodle excites Andrew, who states it is his "jam", and teases another news report at 11:00 that will determine whether or not Swapdoodle is whether or not a jam or a jelly. Andrew checks in on their tech expert Worthington to find out more about the free games. Worthington says he wish he could, but he is only programmed to pour tea and remove the erasers from Jenna's pencils, which angers Jenna. Quickly, Andrew cuts to their weather reporter Izzy, which Jenna begrudgingly goes along with. Izzy says the weather is not great, as he can not decide whether to buy Pokémon Sun or Pokémon Moon. Andrew suggests buying both, which Izzy agrees with. After Andrew explains how the viewer could get discounts on games with My Nintendo on the Nintendo eShop, Jenna tells Andrew what he said had nothing to do with Izzy's report, to which Andrew says he was not playing attention and opens and plays on his Nintendo 3DS. Andrew questions if he actually was paying attention, and teases yet another news report, which Jenna assumes would be at 11:00, even though Andrew was going to say 12:00 that time. After Jenna praises My Nintendo, the aforementioned link appears again and Andrew says they will cut to Frizzy the street reporter, as they have more to say on the topic. Frizzy says they are on the street outside the Casa de Nintendo because they assume Andrew and Jenna's mother mistaken them for garbage, which Andrew states has happened before. Andrew tells Frizzy to tell the viewer how they can use their My Nintendo points, to which Frizzy states he would if the garbage truck was not turning on the street they are in. Frizzy's report ends with him running away from the truck. Andrew and Jenna then encourage the viewer to tell their parents to get a My Nintendo account, like and subscribe to the Play Nintendo channel, and if they see "a sock with blue hair" running down the street, they should be assured he is not garbage.
