Nintendo's 2017 Summer of Play Tour
Nintendo's 2017 Summer of Play Tour was a traveling tour that traveled throughout the United States of America from June 9, 2017 to September 4, 2017.[1] At the event, people could play new Nintendo Switch games as well as play Nintendo 3DS games on the New Nintendo 2DS XL.[2] The event was documented in The Play Nintendo Show episode, "Going on Tour with Nintendo's 2017 Summer of Play Tour". A similar video was also released on the Play Nintendo channel promoting the event.
The first one hundred people at the event with a My Nintendo account who completed their event passport could receive an exclusive metal water bottle if they scanned a QR code.[1] People who pre-ordered games at participating GameStop locations near the event would receive a Nintendo branded PopSocket[2]
Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS were playable at the Nintendo 3DS kiosks. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe had a section in the back right with two stacks of tires in Anti-gravity mode and four decorated seats with a motor on the back of each facing the screen. The floor is an image of N64 Rainbow Road.[2] At the center of the event, there is an area where participants could receive prizes by playing a roulette game.[3]
