It occurred on March 15, 2026 as part of the celebrations surrounding MAR10 Day 2026.[1] The event consisted of multiple runs held at separate times of the day along the Pak Shek Kok Promenade (in Hong Kong Science Park); it commenced with a number of performance-based 4K runs, followed by similar 2K runs, and concluded with several 1K fun runs.

Participants generally had to be 16 or older and were required to pay an entry fee: HK$590 for individual participants and HK$1,280 for teams of two. The 1K fun run allowed runners aged 3 to 15, but they had to be accompanied by a legal adult. All participants in this event received a Runner's Pack and an electronic certificate upon completing the marathon; for 4K and 2K runners, the certificate displays their finishing time, while for 1K runners, it shows their "participation record".[2]
Members of the 4K runs were split into three age groups:
- 16–34.
- 35–44.
- 45 and older.
Participants in the first 4K run (8:00 a.m.) were eligible for rewards. Additionally, top three runners in every age group (separately for men and women) received Champion, 1st Runner-up, and 2nd Runner-up titles.[2]
Route[edit]
Every run began at a specific point on the Science Park East Avenue between the two Harbor View buildings and the Charles K. Kao Auditorium. Runners went around the Harbor View 1 and reached the Pak Shek Kok Promenade, then headed left down the promenade. The rest of the marathon was spent on the promenade, with two different turning points where runners had to change direction. These turning points were located further apart the more difficult the run was. Following the second turning point, runners had to head for same spot where they originally entered the promenade to complete the marathon. The finish is marked with a Goal Pole in promotional material.[2]
Other activities[edit]
According to Running Aces Event on their social media channels, the event also featured meet-and-greet sessions with Super Mario characters, themed photo spots, and gaming stations.[3][4]
Runner's Pack[edit]
This is a set of Super Mario–themed equipment provided one week before the event to those who had registered for a run. Participants had to pick up their assigned Runner's Pack at the D2 Place ONE building;[5] individual participants received a set of items color-coded after either Mario or Luigi on March 8, while teams of two received both sets on March 7. The items in each set include:[6]
- UNIQLO DRY-EX Runner Tee. It features Mario, Luigi, and the event's logo on the front side, and a Goal Pole on the back.
- drawstring bag (not color-coded)
- towel (not color-coded)
- wristband
- sports cap
- sports socks
- racing bib with the runner's ID and category
Teams of two additionally received Mario- and Luigi-themed water bottles.[6]
Additional memorabilia was distributed according to certain criteria. Participants who registered for a marathon prior to October 30, 2025 received a cushion in the shape of Mario's head. Those who finished a run were awarded a medal featuring Mario and the event's logo; for a fee of HK$60, they could additionally have their name engraved on it.[6]
