"Nintendo 3DS - Mario Tennis Open Report: Customization" is the third and final episode of Mario Tennis Open Report, a series of YouTube videos covering details on Mario Tennis Open published on Nintendo of America's channel in 2012. This video covers character customization in Mario Tennis Open.
Synopsis[edit]
This video introduces two new characters in the form of anthropomorphic tennis balls, who are named Flat Shot and Drop Shot, respectively. The two begin to introduce themselves, but Flat Shot interrupts Drop Shot as he is saying his name. Flat Shot continues talking about herself, stating that she is the riskiest and most powerful shot that the player can choose to take in a tennis match. She then states that she only wants to be played by well-dressed players. Flat Shot then states that players go to the Clubhouse and use coins earned from tennis matches to purchase gear that can increase their power, their moves, or the spin on their shots. Gameplay footage of a player customizing Miis is shown as she talks. Flat Shot then states that a boost will be given to the player's stats if they dress like their favorite character. Bullet Bill is given as an example, which is followed by footage of a Mii dressed in Bullet Bill-themed clothing. Gameplay footage of a tennis match with the aforementioned increased stats is then shown, with the player dressed in the Bullet Bill-themed clothing scoring the point. Drop Shot then attempts to speak, only to be interrupted by Flat Shot again. Flat Shot tells Drop Shot not to be shy, and to talk about how players can "mix things up" by using a drop shot in-game. Drop Shot then attempts to do so, only to stutter through an explanation of how a drop shot will drop directly behind the net, which Flat Shot clarifies. Flat Shot then requests that the viewer watch another video.
